I guess pointing out to you that you actually are a slight underdog when the chips went in isn't going to sway your opinion either. But since you don't get it, I'd like some others to comment. Not that I care really - I know 100% I played the hand totally correctly, but since Joe won't accept reality, maybe a few others can confirm that he's out of his mind implying that it was wrong for me to go allin here.

Furthermore, continuing to harp that I "called with just a draw" - at least get your language correct, I was the one who shoved, I didn't call allin (not that it would matter, 100% it would have been correct for me to call an allin there too).

nothing to see here, flopped bottom 2 pair vs open ended straight and flush draw getting it all in is very standard. Arun, I'm never folding your hand and getting allin on flop is completely fine. I'm not sure what the issue is? Chalk this up to another thing Joe is clueless about! Not only was Arun completely correct getting it in on the flop, his hand is a favorite and has more equity than the 2 pair! Joe buried yet again...

i made this exact call for about $200 in a cash game a year back in a casino when a guy shoved with pocket A's. luckily i turned the straight and then flushed on the river.

I agree that chip stack size could definitely be relevant here (I don't think how late in the tournament it is really is particularly relevant, though of course that somewhat correlates to how large stack sizes are compared to blinds).

Say this was one of the Poker Finals, and we both had 10,000 chips or so. Well, obviously when I bet 40 on flop, he min-raises, there would not be a need to outright shove for 10,000 chips, that would be an over-sized raise, even if I had the nuts. So I would three bet then to a more reasonable amount in that situation (maybe 300 or so chips) and then play accordingly based on what he does. Of course in this situation, three betting to 300 would mean more than 1/3 of my chips would be in the pot already. And that point, you are pretty much committed no matter what so might as well go allin.

That said, laying down? At what point? Surely you aren't suggesting folding to his min-raise on the flop. If you think I should have called his min-raise instead of three betting, I agree that's not an unreasonable play, though I really strongly feel three betting is the superior play. Why? Simply because I'm a huge favorite vs his range. He could easily have had just top pair or a slow-played over-pair here (as your opponent did!) against which I'm a tremendous favorite. Against what he had, which is pretty much worse case scenario, I'm still actually a favorite! And considering the chips already in the pot from pre-flop plus the flop action which has already occurred, don't see how you can ever lay this down when you have to think your equity is way higher than 50% on average.

Heck, even if after min-raising me on the flop, he turned over his hand and showed me he had a set, I STILL might be getting the right odds to go with it (though ok, in that situation, it probably would make sense to just call and hope to hit since I have no fold equity). I don't like just calling his flop raise also because if I miss the turn, what do I do then if he bets big on the turn? Probably have to fold then. And if I hit the flush on the turn (as I did!), very likely it scares him, making it quite likely he won't stack off then with one pair then.

Thanks Jake. You are right, nothing to see here - as I mentioned above, I feel foolish that I allowed Joe's talk to compel me to get into a debate about this when it's obvious to anyone with a clue that I played this hand absolutely fine.

As I'm sure Joe will tell you shortly as he did several times already, he will harp on about how he "wasn't implying that ANYTHING you did with your chips was "wrong"!! Anyway, as I mentioned, feel silly that I allowed him to provoke me into this - when I see folks like him who seem to enjoy antagonizing others just for the sake of doing so, trying to stir up trouble, I always try to only observe from the sidelines, never to get involved myself. Yet somehow despite that strong preference, I still have allowed myself to get drawn into it on more than one occasion, sadly! agreed...early in tourney I would probably not get it all in(depending on a few factors) but I don't think it is a bad play to do so. I'd probably just try and get to the river cheaply in a higher buyin deeper stack tournament in the early stages. In later stages with higher blinds, I'm getting it in on the flop all day every day.
