Modesty, Frank. That was all skill! It's true, tho, you often have to fight off the short-stack in tournament poker.

How much do you possibly think SBR would even benefit by rigging it? Why would they bother? How would the system decide who to rig it for and when, etc? Randomness is just a cruel and uncaring bitch, especially when the hands are coming at you fast. I've still seen crazier things happen in live poker than I've seen on SBR

Frank, it's fun to fight off the short-stack. Life on the wire.

Good luck at the tables, big man.

One thing I always tell students is how easy it is to feel that poker is rigged.

Do this: move all the way down in stakes to lowest you can sit at and then play very tight. Then you will never be venting

                      about it.

Poker is a brutal game and not only do you have to beat the rake and variance but you also have to be able to withstand TILT.

That's a whole other animal. You want to think it's not ?

                        FrankM:

Good call on the Dwan video. I watch a lot of poker video. That one is a classic.

Watch Dwan's mannerisms during that hand. He is truly a magic man, who wants to take every dollar. A few things to ponder:

                        1) Antonius is known as being a winner who is incredibly tight. I really think that Dwan put Antonius' pre-flop call on exactly TT. That flop check is amazing.

                        2) After Antonius bets flop...what range is he giving Dwan's call? Would Dwan call w/ AJ(o)? I think Dwan calls w/:
*Qx. In this case, I'd say only AQ or KQ(suited).
                        *Any up/down hand. KJ/J9. But I don't think he would 3-bet pre w/ J9 or KJ(o). So, I'll say KJ(suited).
                        *Overpair. AA or KK.
*Is there any AJ in his range? Maybe AJ w/ a backdoor-flush draw.
...So, really not many combos at all, when u add it up.

                        3) How would that hand have materialized if Turn card is a low brick?
...I really think Dwan folds to one more bet. Look at his stare during the hand. He knows he's behind.

Chucky - ...but he would 3 Bet w/ J9 or KJ off. Remember: Tom 3 bets with any 2 cards.

and yes, interesting to what he would do with his cowboys if the turn came blank.

ps... are you playing PLO tonight ?

Frank, I'm not a PLO player. Sometimes I pop in to say Hi, tho.

Yes, very interesting to see how that hand would have played out. Dwan's stare was so unusual that hand. It's like the cards were face-up.

I know Dwan is known as wide-open and that Patrik is known as a nit. Think about how that hand played out. I really think Dwan knew he was up against TT...and that Patrik knew that he was now behind on turn to QQ or KK (but that his hand was too good to fold).

An all-time hand. The theatrics were to be admired. Check out Patrik at finish: "Nice hand. No, I'm done."

Was there any universe where Patrik could fold the turn? I really think part of it was that he couldn't fold to DWAN IN PARTICULAR! How can u fold a set vs guy who is that wide-open?

No he couldn't fold it. I'm going broke there. Doyle Brunson is going broke there. Patience is a virtue, ya know ?

PS... I will teach you how to play PLO. You can make 4-5 times as much $$$ playing PLO vs NL. By the same token you can lose that much more.

If you are interested, I can get you going with PLO ... you can take all these boys points on this site.
