    I've read several poker-books, and most are pretty bad. Wanted to acknowledge on poker-book that I rate as pretty good:

    * "Phil Gordon's Little Green Book."

    Covers a lot of situational play that you don't see elsewhere. My 2-cents, it's worth the price-tag.

      Played online tournament today. Finished 4th/146. Grossed about 12x buy-in. Felt pretty good about my play.

      2 frustrating things about poker-tournament end-game:
      1) If you're card-dead, you're going to get blinded out. And if u try to overplay your weak holdings, u might bluff off your stack.
      2) Equally frustrating is getting big holdings and not getting any value on your hand.

      I did pretty well on that today. Got action on most of my big pairs, and they held up (for most part).

      Did have one hand where I re-raised w/ AA. Guy calls (he had JT, suited). He flops a gutshot Royal Draw, he goes all-in and I call. On river, Ace to give me set that's no good. He makes Broadway str8.

      I normally don't overplay my handns late in tournaments. So ez to donk off your chips. Better to wait for legitimate hands, imho. Or at least wait until the pot-odds make it reasonable to go All-in. In this tournament, I got short-stacked. Tripled-up BB hands, 1st w/ AA and then w/ JJ (which flopped boat on AAA board).

          Saw that Dwan hand. Very nice.

          Can't really argue w/ Antonio's call. If I'm Daniel, I have to fold (too) w/ all that action in front of me.

            What a 3-way flop in tonite's 7pm tournament. One of those hands where $$ is going in.

            Flop = 9d, 7h, 6h

            I'm holding 98(h). Top pair w/ open-ended Straigh-flush draw. Dream flop!

            Early position has 77. Middle set.

            Middle position holds 85(o). Nut-straight.

            Checked to me in Late-pos. I bet and get re-raised. Flop action gets all the $$ in.

            FWIW, I didn't win. But no one is folding here (obviously). Some chop run-outs, mostly if an off-suit 5 comes. Probabilities:

            * Me (98) = 32%
            * 77 = 29%
            * 85 = 26% (actually LOWEST despite holding nuts)

              Why were you betting? Check the flop.

                I don't agree w/ this. Free card?

                If I bet, I might take down the pot vs opponents that bricked. If I hit a gin card on the turn, I very likely don't get paid off (b/c the board is now too wet).

                This isn't bingo. Even my 9 might be good. I'm not going to check and let 2 weak-overs catch.
