I m glad you started something good and keep posting ideas strategies and experiences in the forum instead of the regular bad beat conversation or meaningless commentary, most of the time totally irrelevant for players that wish to advance.
On the HUD issue probably you and Dane are right, since the online community uses them, in my case, I prefer to observe and analyze each station remembering how the player acted and did in the past. It is a habit for me and as I say, i carry myself in the same way on the live game, \practice makes Perfect.
I also started last night a new roll at 5 dimes. with a $ 200 SBR sport cash.
Finished 4th in a $3 tournament and earned 180 dollars, made some more at the cash tables, loosing at the small stakes and making all back at the 1 2 . I also play some today for 1 hour taking down a $10 buy in jack pot that earned me $40 and some more at the plo and nlh.
Overall my 5 dimes BR sits with 510.-

Damn Sin you're actually a beast at Poker huh. You should just stick to 1/2 online and then try to move up to some 2/5. Also, how do you play on 5dimes? I once played on that site for 20 minutes and found the software to be extremely tilting. The layout just gave me a headache when 4 tabling and I found it was more SBR poker than poker with some of the suckouts. Why not try Bovada?

In a nutshell, HUDs can do just about anything if you configure them correctly, and there's a whole science to efficiently displaying the stats that tell the tale about a player. Anything meaningful you can observe single tabling, you can teach a HUD to observe (I don't consider time use a meaningful stat in most cases).

My HUD use was mainly to get a quicker feel for unknowns....against the regs, after you play in enough pots with them you generally get a feel for what they're up to, and you make most decisions based off that instead of looking at stats. You can't get deep into stats for every hand multi tabling, there's just not enough time...analyzing what stats mean what and calibrating your impression of a reg to their stats, finding leaks is after-session work.

I would use my hud to "scout" tables on bovada before I sat. This would allow me to identify the weak players before I sat...and if the table wasn't to my liking I'd close it and scout another.

So I am still on a slight downswing in poker at the moment. I just need to keep putting in the work and eventually I'll start running well. The main thing I need to do is start putting in some good hours. So today I sat down and wrote out a poker plan only factoring in rakeback. Basically I've got €90 left in bonus to rollover which should be rolled over in 20 hours of playing. At that point I'll have €278 in my account and then I will move over to Coral Poker. I still have about €220 in bonus to clear and I also get 60% RPV which is more like 40% WC. Although if I lose money the RPV helps me out. So essentially with the RB + First Deposit Bonus I will get around 70% RB in total. I'll probably only be playing there for about a month in which by the time I leave my total Poker Bankroll should be close to €1000. At that point I will move over to Betsafe Poker which offers 30% RB + 20% RB on FDB/Reload Bonus so 50% in total. At that point I expect to be playing 50NL and then I should make my way to 100NL as long as I can play close to BE. We'll see though I'm optimistic. I'll need to get to the point where I can play at least 10 tables at once so I can crush it with RB. I might even turn into a rakeback whore if it means more cash and doesn't destroy my game.

I've only received an insane sports offer from Betdsi. So basically about 1 week ago I was offered a 100% sportsbook bonus and then a few days ago I was offered another 100% sportsbook offer that I can use twice. All of these are up to $500. So essentially I can deposit $1,500 and I will get an additional $1,500 to make a total of $3,000. At this amount I can bet $100 units which would make about 3.5% of my sports roll. Now the first bonus must be used before the end of September, but the 2nd bonus offer I've got until the end of October. I'm thinking that in about 10 days I'll withdraw from 5dimes whatever amount I have. Hopefully it will be closer to $200, and then I'll do my best to get $300 together to deposit.

Now the only issue is how I'm going to come up with $500 by the end of this month and $1000 by the end of next month.

Sin- Damn Sin you really never seize to amaze. Now when you say BR is that your poker BR or a combined Poker/Sports BR? 27% is pretty good, much better than stars.

Damn guys so I know I didn't post too much over the past few days, I just didn't feel like it since I've been on a massive downswing. Basically Poker is still not going well. I think I logged 10-15 hours over the past few days, but I'm still down. I even went and played 10 hours at 5NL to try to get things going again, however, I still ran horribly. My ev is in the green, but my profits in the red. For example, I get AA all in versus QQ and 77 preflop, but I lose to a set of 777. It's a joke. I got sucked out on quite a bit as well. So I started thinking about what's been going on and I've come to the conclusion that 1) I'm not rolled enough for the limits I play and 2) I have such a low sample that anything can really happen. If I was rolled properly a downswing wouldn't really bother me as much and I can't complain about a downswing if I haven't played at least 50k hands. I'm not too sure entirely what I will be doing because I do want to be very aggressive with my BR in the lower limits, but as I move up I'll have to allow myself a few more Buy Ins per stake. Anyway I've got this huge plan for getting my Poker BR at €800 and my Sports BR at $3,750, therefore I will need to set some goals on a per week basis.

This weekend went alright, ATS we performed very well in NCAAF, but not too hot in NFL. Last night I probably had around $20 from 5dimes on the Steelers and about $50 in betpoints on them as well. Luckily they hit and now I can cash out $100 in sportsbook cash. I'm not too sure where I will use this though. I might just keep it in 5dimes for now.

5 dimes pay 27%rake back every week, you should consider it.
I started my B R 10 years ago by playing free roll s and from a profitable night at the casino where I made a profit of 280.
Then I won a few free rolls at bodog when they have the 500 daily tournament, and also playing with a group of friends on monthly basis. Some times my B R is as high as 9000 or low to 800.
This one that I post have to added to the total.
I keep a poker wallet totally separated and do not play bigger then my B R allows.
And finally, I only play poker as entertainment, but, with passion.

Escism- lol man, if you played pokerstars back in the day then this poker site is going to be completely different. I can only describe SBR Poker as a lottery where the better players hold more than one ticket.

Sin- Yea variance is killer isn't it. That's why I don't know how people play tournaments. Especially on softer sites the variance can be crazy at times if the fish hit the top of their range because you're calling down light.


10k Plan

So I know this whole 10k plan sounds crazy as it's been a little over a month since I started this challenge and I'm not even past the $500 mark with my BR. I need to write this plan out for myself, so I thought I'd share it with you guys and see what you think and who knows it could help some of you as well.

This month I've got around €300 to use for poker. So I've put in around €220 of my own cash in my BR. At the moment I'm in the process of clearing a very easy RB bonus so at the latest I'll probably get an additional €90. I'll probably just start out at 10NL to get things going again until I hit 25 BI's for 20NL or I see some very juicy games. So due to history at this stake I expect to probably make 5bb/100 at 10NL and if I can play 50 more hours this month with at least 300 hands per hour I expect to make just under €100. Worst case let's say we're at €450 by the end of the month. At the moment I'm a few hands short of getting another €150 RB bonus which I would expect to clear within the first week of the next month, assuming i can play 25 hours and not run bad. At this point I'll have a BR of €600 around the 7th of October. So I expect to hit a BR of €600 in 3 weeks time.

Now at this point I will be withdrawing my BR and depositing at Coral Poker in which I receive around 60 or 70% RPV (Real Player Value). Basically this means the real RB is around 40%, and then the amount of extra rakeback you can receive depends on how much money you lose. If you are a winning player then you will really only receive the 40% RB. Now on top of this there is a First Deposit Bonus which clears at 30% RB, therefore making the entire RB I will receive around 70%. This is all great, expect that because of these deals many good poker players end up playing on this site where the rake can be pretty high. However, Coral Poker just banned all Russian Players this past month and I can't pass up 70% RB, which would be even higher if I'm a losing player there. After doing some calculations the lowest estimated amount when I compared mutiple rakeback calculating sites estimated I should make €1,500 at 20NL after RB. Which would put my BR at around €2,000. Now the second I clear my deposit bonus I'm off this site because the players are very nitty and good (18/15/6). I have until the 11th of November to clear this bonus.

Now at this point I will then transfer my BR over to the microgaming poker network which is believed to be the softest poker network available. RB is 30% flat with a deposit/reload bonus of 20% making it around 50% RB in total. After a month of playing 50NL I can expect at least €2,500 from RB alone. Over November and December I would then get €5,000 + previous €2,000 leaving me with a €7,000 poker bankroll by December.


Now this is all calculated considering I play 160 hours each month, with at least 400 hands per hour. I would prefer to increase the amount of hands I see hourly, but I'll have to do some trial and error to see if it affects my game. All of this also is without consideration to possible rake race rewards I could receive.


Now the plan for sports is to gather $500 for this month and deposit that into BetDSI and then I will do that two more times for next month. If I use the SBR store first deposit 50% extra promotion I will have a total of $3,250 in my sports account with $1,500 being mine personally. I will basically be able to bet $100 flat which would be 3% of my BR.


So in total €7,000 + $3,250 = ~€10,000.

Now I know all of this is going to extremely difficult. When I created my poker goal amount I didn't really include any profits I could make, although I know I could definitely hit a downswing as well I definitely could be a huge fish at 50NL when I play there. However, if I can profit at these stakes I can surpass my year end goal of 10k.

A few issues that come into play is that I currently am starting school this upcoming week. I also work two part time jobs which equate to around 20 hours per week, and I also play soccer competitively. I will be quitting at least one job soon enough. I also cannot forget the amount of time a GF requires . This is also the issue that I am required to pay half of my profits up to my first 3k to my coaching program. Anyway, I'm pretty hard working so I think I'll figure out a way to get this goal accomplished. I don't think anything in my plan is outrageous, I think the hardest part is going to be playing the 160+ hours monthly, plus additional study time.

Louisville +2- FSU I thought should have lost to Ole Miss. Louisville on the other hand have a heisman QB candidate and it's not easy to play a top ranked team as a first true road test game.

Ole Miss +10.5- I think there is definitely an overreaction to the Alabama in. USC has been overrated every year. Ole Miss has one of the best QB's in college and a stingy defense. They beat Alabama last year and I expect them to cover this year.

Nebraska -3- I find Oregon overrated.

Auburn +3.5- They held strong to cover against Clemson and they really aren't that bad of a team. They have a good defense.

Notre Dame -7- If Kizer plays every snap it's game over for Mich. St.

Oklahoma -2- They got upset against the Cougars and they are too good not to be taking at home against the Buckeyes in their first true road game.


Bills PK- Rex Ryan playing his old team at home, last year the Bills went in and beat the jets away. Right now Rex really needs this win more than anything so save his season/career and he definitely hates these jets. Rex is a players coach and will get them fired up for a divisional rival this Thursday. Do you think the Jets want to go and play a physical, fired up Bills team in Buffalo on a Thursday night? I don't think so. The line opened at -3 and is now around pk. Majority of bets are currently on Jets which is expected. If you're a bookie, would you not have opened this game at Jets -2.5? Although the Jets are the better team, Rex really needs this game and the Bills will be fired up. The Bills were also ranked 1 spot ahead of the Jets in the preseason power rankings and after one game they are now ranked 8 spots behind? Overreaction. I think the Bills were looking ahead for this Thursday's game and that's why they came out looking so lethargic.

Texans -1- The texans didn't play too well against my Bears, but neither did the Chiefs in their game. I'm really just fading the Chiefs here because of their huge comeback late in the 4th. They also looked terrible in their opener and the Texans are better than the Chargers.

Dolphins +7- Can we talk about an overreaction overload? Jimmy G is apparently the NFL MVP at the moment. The Patriots literally pulled out everything they had for Jimmy and he kept throwing to wide open receivers. It was comical how bad the Cardinals were playing. I'm sure Jimmy is good, but come on. The Dolphins just went into Seattle and got so unlucky they didn't win that game (it would have helped me out so much in my survivor pool). Jimmy is going to be in the spotlight all week long with his newfound fame while the Dolphins are preparing hard for their divisional rivalry matchup knowing they can beat a Brady-less Patriot team. This line suggest the Dolphins would be -1 at home against the Pats. What's that line telling us here?

Browns +7- I wouldn't touch this game if RGIII was playing, but McCown is a beast. He's done very well against the Ravens and if there's one way to beat the Ravens it's in the passing game. Divisional rivalry getting 7 points at home with a QB who has very good history against the opponent.

Steelers -3- The Bengals got sooo lucky to win that game against the Jets. The Jets were constantly moving the ball against this Bengals team. The Steelers dominated and I won my fantasy matchup by .4 points all because my boy Brown got 26 for me. The Bengals are the Steelers little brother. From what I see most are taking the Bengals at the moment?

Redskins -2.5- Dan played against a terrible Giants secondary and couldn't even throw a TD. I think he's going to have trouble here in his first road game. The Redskins got embarrassed Monday Night and I think they redeem themselves here.

Saints/Giants over 52.5- No Defense + Very good offense = high scoring

49ers +14- I know it's tough to take a bad 49ers team on the road against one of the top teams who just lost their first match, but Chip Kelly has these boys playing. I also think Gabbert is the best QB in San Fran and they should have some confidence after their huge win. 14 points is really alot. That's San Francisco +8 at home.

Cardinals -7- I think people are really going to overreact to the Cardinals loss and the Bucs win. The Cardinals are probably the most talented team in the league and they didn't even show up. I don't think the coaches will let them have to have too much fun this week.

Broncos -7- If Luck was having trouble against the Lions I don't know what he's going to do against this Defense. Also, Denver's QB played pretty well against a very tough defense and the Colts are lacking everywhere. Good luck Andrew.

Jaguars -3- The Chargers just lost after a throwing the game away. I would usually consider taking the Chargers here, but I don't know what they are going to do without WR Allen. He's a huuge lose for them. The Jaguars are supposed to have a very good defensive team in this league and idk I would lean their way.

Vikings -1- The Vikings won in a very ugly game. AP couldn't get going and I expect him to in this one. The Defense played very well and so did Shaun Hill as a backup. This is a tough one to predict.

Eagles +3- I always have to fade my Bears, they just aren't very good and the Eagles defense front 7 is.

This past weekend did not go too bad. I ended up clearing €90 in bonuses in poker although I didn't make any profit. I have now moved my bankroll over to Coral Poker. I am still on the Ipoker network which isn't great, but I do receive about 70% in effective rakeback. I played about 2 hours yesterday and made a small profit. My goal to hit before the end of September is to get my BR to €500. That means I need to make around €27 a day. I'm back to school this week so we'll see how things go.

Pretty much a breakeven day pokerwise although it could have been much better. Two major coolers. First one I have 7h7c and the fish behind 3bets 4x pot, I call oop and the flop comes Ks7sTs. He bets 2x the pot and I raise all in, and he calls with 4d4c and the board runs out with spade-spade so we chop. Another hand MP opens, BU flats and I flat with A7s oop. The flop comes KsQsJs. He bets I call and the turn is the 9s. He bets I jam and he calls with the 10 of spades. So unlucky. You could argue that I should raise the flop, but if he just has a draw or one pair hand he's unlikely to continue. Also, if a spade does come on a later street he still might call at least one street with say the 9s or 8s. Also, if another spade had hit besides the 9s I don't think he's folding that hand to any of my bets really unless he's a nit.

So far I've taken a few bets for the upcoming week.

So I started playing some 6+ poker which means all numbered cards under 6 are taken out of the deck and it has slightly different rules. Anyway, I started playing it because the games seem very fishy. I ended up going on a 4BI downswing I would assume due to mainly variance, as it is a very swingy game. Anyway, I've decided I will no longer play it as it is 1) wayyy too high variance and 2) Will not help me get better at my Texas Holdem poker game. The good news is that essentially I am breakeven at the moment after I factor in the rakeback I will be receiving at the end of the month. I'm going to try and mainly be a rakeback grinder at 10NL and work my way up thru there. Ipoker just has way too many nits and possibly bots that I think rakeback grinding with about 70% is the way to go.

Sorry guys long time no update here...

So I am finally on my own! I quit Coaching for profits from bestpokercoaching.com and although they do teach all of the beginner material very well I don't think anything higher is of much use. I had a huge issue with them when I was quitting. They would not allow me to transfer my affiliate to their partners and instead the CFP program wanted to keep me as their own even though they don't offer any promotions to non-members of their CFP program. So basically I would receive nothing and they would get a percentage of my rake from the poker site. Instead I decided to close my account and I will be signing up again with a different affiliate (there are some sneaky ways to do this, pm if you need advice). So over the past week or so I've mainly been playing on Coral Poker (iPoker) and it's been alright. I've been running about 5BI's below EV, however I was basically receiving 70% RB. So after it was all said and done I basically broke even at 10NL at Coral Poker. Although the RB is very nice, there were a few problems. 1) The software is terrible and if you click on the fold button as a pre-action, it doesn't always work 2) There weren't always enough games running 3) The amount of reg/nitty players were insane 4) there are many rumours of colluding/bots 5) The rake is insanely high, about 13bb/100 at 10NL 6) I'm connected to my CFP program as my affiliate and f*ck them.

Anyway, for those who do not know, Partypoker/Bwin are doing the "Gladiator" promotion in which you can essentially receive up to 70% RB over the month of October. I've decided to take my funds over to partypoker where I am also receiving an additional $200 bonus. I will be able to play some Fast Forward hands which are much more fun and more flexible. I had originally planned on taking my funds to Microgaming where I get 20% bonuses/reloads + 30% VIP + Rake races, but I just think this promotion from Partypoker is too good to pass up. So I'll play it for this month and see how much I can make. I'm going to be starting out playing some 25NL has I now have the bankroll for it. This could go either really well or very bad fast and I could be back down to 5-10NL soon. I'm not trying to be stupid, but I do want to be aggressive. With the rakeback + bonuses I am receiving I think I can afford it. I set some very high goals in this thread and I fully intend to reach them.

I have also looked into a coach. If any of you guys watch Twitch Poker this guy is "PokerwithRiske" and he plays 100NL zoom on Pokerstars winning at about 5bb/100. I've talked with him for a bit and we are going to do some coaching sessions together. Once I get a decent hand sample at Partypoker 25NL Fast Forward we'll get our first session in.

This weekend went alright, I think I made around 2 units. I'm going to be changing my sports strategy and only play the games I really like. The Steelers were a very big game for me over the weekend. I really like the Vikings tonight and if I do play them I will post a write-up.

If you're interested in picking up a few free tips from another coach I'd recommend listening to carroter's podcasts at "carrot poker" (search "carrot poker" on your iPod's podcast feed). He's a good teacher. He's also just published an excellent book - The Grinder's Manual" which you'd probably find useful. I don't want this to come across as a plug for him, he is just one of the more honest coaches around and besides he gives out plenty of free stuff through his podcasts. Personally I've never paid for coaching as I think there are enough free resources available. Best of luck.

Martin- Thanks man, I have Kindle unlimited so I was able to download "The Grinder's Manual" for free so I'll definitely be giving that a read! I do agree with you that there are a lot of free sources of information out there, but I think it is much quicker to improve with a coach. So basically I'm looking towards long term EV.

So Poker went alright yesterday. I lost about 1.5BI's, but it was my first time playing 25NL Fast Forward and I think I held tough. One memorable hand was I open CO with 44 and the BB calls. Flop is 77J, he leads and I call. Turn is a 4. He checks, I bet and he raises me, I raise all in and the turn is a T. He shows T7. Let's just say I was definitely thrown into the deep end after losing a BI in the first 5 minutes.

I also miscalculated the rakeback percentage. It will be more like 50% over the month of October which is very good for Fast Forward hands.

Alright so time for the daily update.

So Partypoker has been going alright. After watching some videos and reading some poker material as well as just experiencing 25NL for the first time I definitely see improvement in my game after 3k hands. I am down a little over 3 BI's since starting, but that is not too big of an issue. My last 2 sessions at 25NL have been positive and I really am expanding my game. Unfortunately I think I will be changing sites back to Coral Poker for the time being. Partypoker have some of the worst rakeback rewards imaginable and if I really wanted to take advantage of this current promotion I would need to be playing 4 tables of 25NL 5 hours every day to make €1000 rakeback, which is just not possible at this time. Over at Ipoker I bascially received 90% rakeback, which is just too good to pass up. I only have one more month of it until my First Deposit Bonus expires, unless I complete it before then. I basically average about €1.30/100 at 10NL, so I am going to estimate about €2.5/100 at 20NL. If I can 4 table this that brings me to an hourly of about ~€10/h and if I can 6 table that's ~€15/h, 8 table ~€20/h and 10 table €25/h. This would definitely be pretty good money for a student if I can achieve it. Again one of my main goals was to be able to make enough playing to quit my part time jobs. I've got one more job I need to quit and if I can make at least €10/hour I'll be golden. This is all considering I play Breakeven poker which I really hope I'm better than that.

I'll probably play a few hands tonight so I can have an update for tomorrow.

Time for another update boyos

So I started playing some Coral zoom at 20NL and over the 2k sample I currently am up just under 3BI's and I have an EV of 11bb/100. Now I am running pretty hot and it's a small sample, so we'll see how everything goes. With RB included I'm up just under 4BI's. So I do need to play more. I'm only 2 tabling at the moment, but my average € hourly is around €4. I'd like to 3-4 table, but I need to get used to handling that and not having as much time for decisions. One problem I'm really having with Coral that I think is impacting my play a bit is not having a HUD. For some reason the PT4 HUD does not work on the Ipoker speed tables for this current Coral poker version. It's tough to deal with 3betting when there is no HUD to help out.
