Because Manny admitted to taking a banned substance. Braun's ruling is still up in the air at this point and he has claimed he didnt take anything, thats why its different so far.

I used to always bring up the hypocrisy in Bonds likely not getting into the HoF despite never having a positive piss test by the league, while A-Rod will probably get in on his first ballot despite having admitted to using steroids. In A-Rod's case, the media just ignored his steroids use. In Braun's case, the media seems to be outright defending him.

It all proves that this stuff has just turned into a matter of public judgement based on whether people like the player personally or not. This is supposed to be sports- not a reality show.

That's true, but only of suspensions that have been announced by the MLB. In this case, ESPN broke the story while it was still in the appeals process- before anything goes public. That's why the MLB won't say a word about it. It's possible that there have been past cases in which the player won his appeal so the suspension was never made public at all.

All the sources saying no player has ever successfully appealed a failed test is wrong. There has been 1 and guess what, that player is in the Brewers system and the situation is very similar, tested positive for extremely high levels of testosterone then immediately tested negative. 1. Because you will be suspended (though I agree that the suspension should be longer than 50 games for intentionally dosing).

Assuming this holds up, pretty much everyone in this thread looks like a jackass. Yes he will probably still get suspended but if this is true he clearly wasn't doing it to cheat.

It depends. The test is certainly strange which is why it was in doubt to begin with. I think the medication is the real deal because there were already rumors about it a week or so ago that said it was medication for the herp, which was another reason Braun was angry the test leaked early.

Reports coming out that MLB wont overturn the suspension of 50 games to Braun. Doesnt surprise me, 90% of baseball has to be taking something whether they look like it or not. Even the pitchers too, there throwing harder and harder....coincidence? maybe but idk
