No I wouldn't be happy. My wife and I are done having anymore kids. Even if you asked me when I was 23 when my wife had our 1st child I wasn't happy. It did somehow turn me into a more productive and responsible person once my kids came into my life. I do agree with you though life without kids can be a much sweeter life for yourself. My youngest is my best friend (4) I swear to you. It really humbles you when your kids grow up enough and realize you are their hope and they depend on you. So I'm really back and forth with this topic.
What sense does having kid(s) make?

#74Reading through this thread I realize that most of you are still young, immature, self absorbed, etc. etc..........and I've got not problem with that. I was the same way in my twenties. I didn't get married until i was 32 and my first child wasn't born for another 2 years. I lived that life.......so many drunken nights, Vegas trips, banging anything that was a 5+, road-tripping to see my favorite teams play, back-packed around Europe with two buddies, etc. etc.
I now have two boys.......5 & 7. Both fanatical about sports, intelligent, and overall wonderful young people. Do they piss me off at times? Of course! Do I miss some of those care free days when the world was all about me? Of course! But, the bond, friendship, and overall joy of spending time with my boys is beyond words. I lived the life without kids that you young bucks are talking about. Now, for the past 7 years I've lived the "family guy" life and I can tell you that as much fun as the pre-kids life was (and I wouldn't trade it for anything)......my life is much more complete and happier since the birth of my first son.
It's VERY important still have your "guy time" as well as time with the wife (without the kids). I've shared USC football season tickets for 17 years with two buddies and my brother. We will not give this up. It's our thing. I go to two "away" games a year (USC/Notre Dame every other year and then mix in another dependent upon the schedule). I still go to Vegas.......usually twice a year......once with my wife and other couples and once with the guys. I also encourage my wife to take weekend trips with her girlfriends. Sometimes she/they need to get away from being a "mommy" 24/7 and let loose a little. My wife and I try to take two vacations a year..........one with the kids and one without the kids.

#77My wife and I made a decision to have kids because we wanted a family, and honestly-----and you can make fun of this all you want----but I can have the shittiest day at work, and I open the door and I have my kids diving on me----asking to play catch, ride the bikes----nothing like it in the world.
As for the money angle. I love spending money on my kids. Any dad in this thread would agree----nothing like spending money on your kids. There is nothing that I could buy for 12K that would have given me the same joy I had when I took my kids to Disney.
And I have boys, and if I died tomorrow, I will die knowing what it was like to take them to their first ball game.Comment -

MartinBlank gets it.
BTW, the walking through the door bit is exactly what goes down in my household as well.Comment -

She keeps emailing me pictures of heaven and telling me I just need to experience it to understand why
Heres a tip...come up with logical reasons, convincing reasons that dont involve "experiencing it", if I wanted to have kids and experience them I wouldnt have started this thread asking why ppl have kids, I mean what would I experience, just the kid loving me and saying daddy daddy I pooped in my pants I love you can you change my shit filled underwear, for an extra 300k in my bank account after 20 years I think I can do withoutComment -

Im tryin to help the young new posters we got in here not make life destroying decisions, their already ****** up on big chalk baseball bets and every known drug the last thing they need is a dirty diaper pile and a warrant for failure to pay child support
Not having kids for those without a 6 figure bank account is very +EVComment -

EPIC FAIL!!!
Your life pre-kids
WINNING!!!
Personally some brat emptying my bank account and harassing me all the time to lob the ball around after I've been slaving to pay for its playstation, xbox, computer, its been sitting in front of all day doesnt really do it for me, I think I'll just take the 600k in my bank account instead of 2 kids
In fact I'd pretty much sell everyone I know for 300k a piece, mom and dad GTFO SOLD!!!! Much less some brats I could potentially have fill up diapers all day long with a disgusting horrific smelling mess for me that thankfully dont even existComment -
