He put down he spent 1,000 on school fees and got it all back in refunds. He said since it's only 1,000 odds of getting caught are low. Thoughts?
My buddy said he cheated on taxes?

#25What is his AGI? If it is less than 120k there is less than a 3% chance he even finds his way into the audit pool. It just isn't worthwhile to audit low(er) income taxpayers except to deter this kind of practice.Comment -

#31They reward well for school obviously. % years ago I spent $5700 on my baseball team for equipment and uniforms and other essentials. Had reciepts for every dime spent and H&R Block said it was worth an additional $87 in charitable contributions towards my return.Comment -

#33I would never do it, but with a lot of fraud going on in 1st time homebuyer credit and earned income credit, he may get away with it. Wasn't there a story where a 4 year old received $8,000 for 1st time homebuyer credit? If they do catch up with him, it's usually not right away. To me, there's something to be said about sleeping well at night.Comment
