    Deal?
go pro and let's bet points. two teams out of 125 play 4 games while the other 123 play 3 or fewer and i lose.

how about this wager: O/U 3.5 games - EVERY college team in FBS (includes all 5 power conferences) has to play at least 4 games each in calendar year 2020, and you win.

3.5 fewer games for EVEN one college out of 125, and I win.

    how about that?

In a statement released on Thursday, Alvarez estimated that Wisconsin could lose $100 million if there is no football season this year. Even with a conference-only schedule and limited capacity at Camp Randall Stadium, the department is projected to lose $60-$70 million.

The Badgers have an operating budget of approximately $140 million for the 2020-21 academic year.
Its a lose-lose situation. Football without fans is a glorified scrimmage. Can’t make money with 20% attendance either. I wish they would quit dragging it out and just cancel the season and get ready for plan B. Amazingly, lots of fall sports like volleyball are already cancelled but there is still a push for football. If the football team can play then volleyball, lacrosse, tennis, golf, wrestling, rowing, equestrian, fencing, basketball can be played too.

Lots of people are going to lose their jobs. Ncaa is going to look very different if they don't play this season. Pretty alarming that they will still lose huge amounts money playing the reduced schedule of games

AL, GA, SC, NC all having spikes now too

7 of the 8 states i just mentioned have RED governors

Of course you can. TV $$$$$ pays most of the bills. If you are a major conference on TV, you are making money as a school if you have games.

It’s why there’s Big 10 network, SEC Network, ACC Network, Longhorn Network, Pac 12 Network.

It’s why the NBA is playing also. TV and broadcast rights revenue are far more important than attendance.

You make it seem so easy. I hope the major conference commissioners are listening to you and going full speed ahead. If attendance wasn’t important they could play the games at a high school stadium and during the day to save on the lights. TV money will pay the freight.

Confrence / TV deals are the cash cow .
Attendance is surely a profit but these contracts are the moneymakers .
Advertising, TV deals , these companies will want something for their investment, its business . If they don't play, I'm sure its going to void billions in contracts since they will get zero return on investment.

If im correct. There was no March madness this year. That was a CBS television contract that didn’t get fulfilled, am I correct?? Did CBS get something for their investment. That was only 4 months ago. Dont tell me it cant happen.

First off , CBB played a full season just no post season. They missed out on 4 weeks , they played 3+ months however.
Im not sure there's a March Madness contract , just a name given to it . However there is SEC , Big 10 ESPN , CBS contracts that rely on football.
So its a fukkin huge difference in 80% ROI vs 0% .
And basketball is big but its no college football, football drives all these other sports even being able to happen .
So we'll see but these conference TV deals are into the multi billions and you dont play yet pay ? No business will last long .

The most profitable postseason in SPORTS. That four weeks that were not played was more than the entire regular season contract.

                            Postseason, sure .
Again , college football loses a minimum 4B+ if a No Go overall.
The SEC alone has a 300M per year TV deal .
Add in Big 10 , Big 12 , Pac 12 , and others , its way more than March Madness .
Money runs this World and will continue to until the end of times..
The more I see , they may not play a full season, but it's going to happen just like MLB , NHL and the rest trying to recoup some money .

It’s the same reason WWE and AEW kept producing live shows even with no fans. The TV $$$ is what pays the bills.

The only colleges not playing football this fall (if there are any) will be small schools that have no incentive to play with a small attendance. Big conference with TV money, of course they will play.

TV $$$& is what generates the profits for all sports. There’s no way the NBA or MLB would be playing now with no fans if the owners weren’t still making $$$$ bc of the TV rights deals. It’s the reason minor league baseball is completely cancelled but major leagues is a go. TV $$$$ makes the profits.

Everyone in America, who doesn’t even watch sports but has Cable or Satellite is paying for this. Until the TV bubble bursts, this is going to be the cash cow for sports. Attendance really nobody cares about. Look what the Marlins or Rays draw.

College football will be played. Probably expanded playoffs but no other bowls. Same deal MLB is doing by expanding the playoffs. More TV games more $$$

~5000 deaths the last 4 days.

Cfb in trouble. It is awful. It is depressing.
Fall = Saturday college foots. It is life. It is love.

It is.....in trouble. Deep deep trouble.

                                        We need a miracle now.

You cannot compare the TV revenue from other sports with that of the NCAA. The NCAA Colleges will lose money if they have to play without fans. While it is true that they will lose MORE money if they do not play at all, they will lose money playing in front of no fans.

Manny, I am good - my wife and young kids and i just went hung out all day out and about in the SoCal sunshine. Please understand that i'm telling you from a Leadership Perspective there are THREE KEY items which CFB Leaders are extremely concerned about:

                                                    - OPTICS. playing college football while cases and death numbers are back on the rise all over the country but especially in about 8 or 9 states, is a terrible look because football involves so many players in close contact and huge rosters in a locker room.

                                                    - LIABILITY. mom or dad or grandma or grandpa get sick because their son got sick and transmitted it to them is a huge problem. lawyers lined up all over the country ready to sue. an unhealthy OL or other guy gets sick and ends up on a ventilator = season over for everyone. you think the NBA shutting down the league because of Rudy Gobert was bad? just wait until an OL player gets ventilated.

                                                    - CONTACT TRACING. if one OL or one DL or one LB etc gets COVID-19, then every single one of his teammates or opponents who had contact with him ie being in the same room, or next to each other on the field, or tackling/physical contact, MUST BE QUARANTINED FOR 14 DAYS

anything short of a vaccine in the next month and the entire season will be scratched.

and uhm, a vaccine ain't happening until phase 3 trials begin and run AT MINIMUM 6 mos (it should be one year) and Moderna is the first one to go to phase 3 and it starts on 7/27

some of you just don't seem to realize yet what most of us already know.

My guess is that the colleges first try a 10 game season. That leaves them plenty of wiggle room as far s the schedule goes. 10 games in 15 weeks. It will not work. The NCAA already has two Big 10 teams, (Michigan State and Rutgers) on total team quarantine for 14 days. And this is just the beginning. MSU is scheduled to open against Northwestern on 9/5. They then get 3 weeks off unless the Big 10 allows teams to schedule another conference game. Basically, if teams follow Oklahoma's lead and try to get as many open dates spread out as possible, they may have an outside chance at getting 10 games in. This is like watching passengers scrambling to find life boats on the Titanic.

Saw that. Rutgers and MIchigan State both stopped all activites for quarantine.

Probably better it happens now, like those NBA players that were positive.

By season time, we'll see who else is impacted.

Also, how will they rank teams when big conferences are isolating themselves. WIth 10 games, there's bound to be a number of undefeated teams with no way to compare them.

                                                          Clusterfukk.

With Baseball, a "non-contact" sport failing to get through their opening weekend without games being cancelled and at least one team losing a considerable number of players, how can anyone reasonably expect a team in a sport where contact determines the outcome of each game to possibly survive a season?

You cannot have academic facilities closed for academics (off site learning only) yet allow the athletes access.

It's a very bad look...not many University President's will go along w this.

It's actually a better and safer optic imo if students are all remote
