I could care less what he does other than really hope he doesn’t go the bitch boy KD route and join lakers, that would be lame! I understand he wants to play for LA but no harm in signing for 2 w Toronto then getting the supermax from lakers when bron at the end!!

Nothing wromg with wanting to live in California with that weather. Fuk living in toronto and having to go through customs to go yo every game and the horrible taxes canada has and that crappy weather. I would love for him to play with my favorite big man davis, favorite player lebron, and kawhi my favorite defender. My dream to have them all on same team.

Def nothing wrong w wanting to live in Cali, I’d go there way before Toronto but during season mfers live out of hotels all over anyways. Just think it would be another super team suck situation if he joins those 2, sick of nba having its best players make it easy on themselves to win. Lame!

Not sure why I'm responding as it feels like you are trolling or just ignorant, maybe both.

Pretty sure he does live in California during the off season.

He pays taxes once as Canada & US have reciprocal tax agreements. Taxes in Canada are probably on par with those in Cali, maybe less.

There are definitely US states that have low or no state income tax - Florida and Nevada I know of. California and NY have high taxes so that argument is a non starter.

Winter weather is a lot colder than Cali for sure, but last time I checked they play basketball indoors and the weather is the same inside an an arena in Toronto as it is in Los Angeles. Also, NBA players don't have to face the elements in the winter unless they choose to. They ride to and from games in heated vehicles that take them to heated airports where they fly in heated planes etc.

Cold winter weather is only an issue if you make it one. Minnesota, Milwaukee, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Boston, Philly, Cleveland, Detroit, Indiana all have cold winter weather.

Customs takes a couple of minutes max and there is no TSA in Canada so none of the Homeland Security nonsense at Canadian airports, it's also likely that they get pre-cleared at customs as they don't fly on scheduled commercial flights.

Pearson International Airport in Toronto is a US point of entry for flights to the USA and has US Customs and Immigration officers on site.

You are wrong about the taxes and that's a fact! He would make more money with the lakers on a long term contract.

Toronto is worse with twxes so you are wrong again

What does playing indoors have to do with jone games when it would be way better in california on days you don't got games.

Those cities have nothing to do with toronto where most of his games would be played...

Everytine i took a plane to toronto and back to usa always took way longer.

The miami heat and golden state warriors were fine the first years with new superstars.

                              You mad bro.

You should look up the definition of irony.

I'm just going to address one thing and then forget this thread because having a decent convo on this topic is unlikely.

"Everytine i took a plane to toronto and back to usa always took way longer."

Tell me how it takes longer to fly from Toronto to New York, or Boston, or Philly or Miami or Orlando or Chicago or Indiana or Minnesota or Charlotte and back then flying from Los Angeles on a CHARTER OR PRIVATE PLANE not a scheduled flight?

                              You're an idiot, thats how.

Jalen Rose is a clown but he does have connections to Toronto since he played there, it just seems hard to think he'd say 99% Kawhi is returning without knowing something. Carter's statement was just that he think it makes sense for Kawhi to go to LA, Rose is the only one in the media who has talked with certainty that he knows where Kawhi is going.

Its much more complicated financially than Kawhi would make more financially in California because of taxes. California taxes capital gains at ordinary income levels so even though Toronto has higher sales and income taxes Kawhi could still come out ahead financially in Canada depending on how he invests.

if it's true he is only looking at 4 or 5 year contracts, then the lakers and clippers have to feel better now.
Was just thinking this is good news for Clippers fans. I just can't see him committing long term to Toronto.

Another thing is that if Kawhi doesn't sign with Lakers tomorrow, the Lakers will have less cap space after the trade with NO goes through.

So if he doesn't decide tomorrow, Lakers are probably out. But wow I really expected him to sign with them today.

He gets to walk away and look like a saint, while he joins another three headed monster that was put together. The Warriors drafted great, and all KD did was join up with a squad. He didn’t have to recruit, or wait for trades, or any of the bullshit that LeBron teams are built on.

Golden State was built through the draft with smart decisions. They added one guy. He signed in free agency with no drama. He was loyal to OKC, but Russ is a bitch and they botched the situation with Harden. Nothing wrong with his decision. Nothing wrong with Kawhi going home either. Just soft to go to the Lakers, and not the Clippers.
so much wrong in this post. you have had it against kawhi from the beginning and have been wrong the whole time. no drama lol? loyal? no recruiting? damn near the whole warriors team went to the hamptons to recruit kd. and between a choice of two franchises he should pick the worst one because you want him to lol. jordan set the bar and kawhi wants 6 rings as all the greats do. and kids in cali don't dream of growing up to be clippers.

California taxes capital gains at ordinary income levels so even though Toronto has higher sales and income taxes Kawhi could still come out ahead financially in Canada depending on how he invests.

right. i'm not sure how much new balance is paying him but im guessing at least in 100 mil range. guys with more personality get much more like steph and kd in the 300 mil range. lebron is lifetime nike and will probably make a billion from them when its all said and done. jordan still getting 80 mil a year from nike. gave his wife 180 mil in divorce settlement and made it back in 3 years lol.

I think an underrated side of this is the medical side. Toronto proved they can keep Kawhi healthy, giving him 20 games off with load management and getting him to peak in the playoffs. If you're Kawhi and you didn't like how the Spurs medical staff handled you and Toronto did a great job, you have to be worried looking at the Lakers medical staff. Lonzo was hurt every year, Lebron got hurt last year, the Lakers have dealt with constant injuries the last couple years, whether that was the LA medical staff's fault or not.

Carter's statement was just that he think it makes sense for Kawhi to go to LA, Rose is the only one in the media who has talked with certainty that he knows where Kawhi is going.
