They have Anunoby -an excellent defender. They see him as a potential star. Don't see it myself, but he's young.

It says a lot about each franchise that Toronto is a playoff team even if Kawhi leaves and the Lakers have 2 players who aren't role players on their roster with most of of the good free agents off the board.

Says more about how easy it is to make it in east. There just not 8 quality teams.

Lakers with LJ, Davis and Kawhi are an NBA championship team.

Lakers with LJ, Davis BUT NOT Kawhi is probably a 3 or 4 seed and likely come up short against a team like GS and maybe Houston.

They don't have much depth outside of James and Davis. Kawhi adds that third big piece, but without him, not sure they have it. Especially in the West.

Kawhi isn’t petty. He didn’t draw it out to fck the Lakers over on getting other FA’s. Just did his due diligence, and now it’s time to go home. He respects Toronto, so he gave them the last shot. Would have took a lot to change his mind. All the Drake deals in the world just aren’t enough to not go back home. It’s like me getting an offer to play for Cuse basketball, but Duke offered too. I’d hear it out, but in the end, of course I’m going where my heart is. Home.

Well yeah, it is standard. Hence why he’s ready to roll with his decision now that he got that courtesy out of the way. He isn’t leaving the Lakers hanging with their nuts out after they had to pass on Curry, and others waiting for Kawhi.

I’m hoping for the Clippers, but just no traction there. Thought they had a real shot when it started, but bringing in no one else pretty much ended their chances. Kawhi is soft, he needs others around him.

The story is that Kawhi decided on Lakers when he was in LA. Multiple people leaked it (Jeanie's nephew, Ricky Davis, Michael Rapaport?) and Kawhi's camp needed to do damage control as he hadn't even met with Raptors yet.

Out of respect to Toronto, he had to make it seem like he hadn't decided yet and that it was a difficult decision so that's why he dragged it out this long and had Cris Carter spin the narrative that he was still undecided. A dead giveaway I think is that Carter said Clippers were still in play when it seemed obvious it was a 2 horse race. Even the leak to Jalen Rose could have been calculated.

Jabari Young (knows Kawhi from his time at the Spurs) said there were no 2 year contracts discussed with Toronto. I think that's as a big a clue as any to indicate he's signing with the Lakers. Kawhi wouldn't sign a 5 year deal and basically spend the rest of his prime in Toronto when he has an opportunity to return to his hometown and win multiple championships.
