#37all wrong
After reading all the posts in this thread, it is very clear that no one here seems to have an understanding of how US Law works and is applied by the Americans.
1) Jurisdiction as it pertains to the internet.
This one is excellent for displaying the complete ignorance and arrogance of the USA to the world.
Online Gaming and NETeller are a great example in this case.
The USA believes any web site, available for viewing by an American in the USA to be doing business on American Soil.
Stop and wrap your brain around that for a moment.
NETeller based in Europe, doing business with companies based in a variety of locations ( NOT USA ).
The arrogance of this perception has to bite the USA in ass sooner or later, as an example some web sites based in the USA displaying porn, or the like and these sites being available in countries where such content is illegal.
Personally I would love to see some American picked up on holidays in a country that fits this situation and held, convicted and sentenced to some absurd term of incarceration.
Unfortunately I dont think the Americans would learn from a case like that, or even a million cases like that.
Lucky for us all, the USA and their reign of terror on this planet is finally ending with the growth of the EUROZONE and of Course China.
2) The UIGEA ( new law )
This is not a BILL, it wa signed and is in fact a law and has been since the moment it was signed.
The 270 day period was for regulators to figure out exactly how to enforce and to allow financial institutions time to figure out how to comply.Comment -

#38It would send a message, wouldn't it, if US porn site operators and employees were subject to arrest in countries where that's illegal?
According to a friend of mine with his finger on the pulse of Washington, many politicians are starting to doubt this whole thing. The present shortsightedness is astounding, but it won't last. Six more months and Bush is a lame duck.Comment -

And the American have been displaying their double standard, arrogance to the world for a lot longer than 3 weeks
The shift away from USD to Euros will be the final nail in the coffin of the USAs dominance.
One only has to look as far as bond markets, and currency values of recent history to see it happening.Comment -

#44VANZACK is by all means not a dubmass as LINEBACKER has stated. He is a respected poster at many forums that I as well belong to. He was stating his side of the story and it is evident many disagreed but what he said was correct nor incorrect but his take on the changes. Go ahead LINEBACKER and flame awayComment -

#47[QUOTE=vanzack]Absolutely.
There is a chance that the bill will not even be put in to practice. Dont forget, the US subcomittee has to come up with practices and procedures within 270 days of Oct 13 to enforce this. They might not even take the time to do this. It all may just fade away.
what do you mean by fade away? and if it does "fade away" will books like pini ,mansion etc.. as well as the netellers out there reinstate US clients so fast?Comment
