#178That's cool, Providence is only a 90 minute drive for me. Hope Connecticut hustles up and gets in the game soon too. I'm in Massachusetts, and this state, New Hampshire and Vermont (both only 15 minutes away from my neighborhood) will probably take forever to get with the program.Comment -

#185Of course, wasn't even thinking about the racebook....duh.
You know, I think MGM was planning the sportsbook since last year. I think they were in advanced stages of planning when New Jersey was fighting the case.
They should come in strong and look good from the get go.Comment -

#191I read that the book takes 8.5% out of all winnings on top of the vig. Is that true? Because if so it’s a long way from offshore or Vegas.Comment -

#201Not worth the hassle of setting up VPN and probably paying brokers fee when Heritage and 5 Dimes are usually within pennies of Pinny. Pinny is much more valuable for info than it is for betting there.Comment -

#203what would be more interesting is how he could keep funding all those accounts. for those who do not want to deal with the bitcoin process and want to go with people to a sportsbook for a more social betting experience rather than stay home alone to save vig this is catching on. large pct. of players do not care about the vig and are euphoric about getting paid immediately after the result. this will be more apparent when football starts and they improve the facilities with more seating etc. they don't care about the extra vig (they should in the long run) and probably will bet offshore also. i see most will bet the MNF and Thursday nite games predominately offshore but the weekend warriors will head down to these places in small groups just for the atmosphere and the infatuation of getting paid 2 minutes after the game.Comment -

#205during the week. there are probably 35 of them in vegas so not surprising. 85% of their volume happens on weekends as will be the case in nj, delaware, ri, and as more of these states get their operation going offshore is going to feel the effect. also you are not taking into account the possibility of mobile and online wagering which requires no travel or attending in person. although you are dead on correct about the vig you are underestimating people and their desire to go somewhere to play, socialize and brag and get paid positively sure after they hit something.Comment -

#206I could not care less about atmosphere or having cash in hand. Hell, I never really carry cash anyway, all bank transfers done electronically and shopping done with debit card, carrying cash is so 1990s to me.
Sure, the new books may have some nice rogue lines occasionally, but for the most part, online is still king for anyone serious about making money long-term.
Now of course there are many people that don't care about winning and treat gambling as an entertainment expense, so of course those folks should be overjoyed about now being able to go to a real-life sportsbook and they have every right to go enjoy themselves. My forum comments are more from a serious player's perspective.Comment -

#208and you are correct. i think you are underestimating the amount of non-serious bettors out there who do not want to stay shriveled up in their house to save vig and want to get away from the shrew or chores around the house on weekends. for every serious bettor who does it right and stays home there are 100 who do not care and want to go to a live venue and not deal with even a minimal 24 hr wait to get paid. i'm talking about 21-50 yr. old bettors not the fossils that you and i are.Don't know about fossil but point taken.
Yeah, recreational gamblers are in heaven right now, as well they should be. There is nothing wrong with that, they deserve to have fun.Comment -

#210I wonder when the other operators are planning to go live in AC:
Ballys/Harrahs/Caesars: Line originator = Caesars Entertainment
Tropicana: Cantor
Golden Nugget AC: Not sure the line originator here
Any press releases out there
I can confirm dime lines at Wil Hill books for mlb $-lines, 20-cent 1st 5/totals. Not bad, standardComment
