Primary manufacturing China so big hit on Tariffs (Thus Mar/Apr) dump. Aggressively moving to Malaysia. Also apparently China/Shark possibly stole some of their intellectual patents/property. Some litigation pending.

Short squeeze also in play. Lot of short interest which may have been played out.

Truth stings doesn't it. Just pointing out this is why the stock market is the way it is today just to give you heads up when the bills come in and the crash happens and you will be prepared. I couldn't think of a better way to help this thread. Be prepared. Be very prepared. This is nothing but false hope. A sugar high from people who love to run up credit and never pay for anything including their one sided tax breaks. God bless and God bless America

Yea, we know. It started under Bush, Obama rolled up more debt than ALL US POTUS's combined. Trump is continuing the same budget Obama left him except he has cut taxes and rebuilt the military. We know. We have a TV too.

The answer is to grow. Better trade deals, stop vagrants/immigrants, lower regulation, basically everything you are against is how we pay off the debt.

That's how I feel. I've held on, but it's definitely wise to bank it soon. I might next week.

Stay with quality. 14 years goes by fast. STWD is at all time high territory. I'd buy BA in here if you don't own it.

Loving that STWD. They positioned themselves well.

Even with rate changes, we can still win.

I'll start checking in here more often too, been on bit of a break. Maybe get some screens up.

10%ish. Retest the S&P 3,000 level within a few months.

STWD slow and boring Divvy but a great long term hold, no doubt about it.

So, I am retired and preservation of capital is my primary objective. Percentage wise I've got a good chunk in WM, XLU, and XLP. Waste management, Consumer staples and utilities. I've found it interesting that these are relatively safe havens and despite the market continuing to rise they have been on an upward trajectory of late. Is there a message here??

Also, seems BYND has huge upside. Comments appreciated.

IRBT (mentioned a few days ago) has large short interest, trending higher, and is threatening to pressure shorts.

                                Best to all.

I would not buy BYND. It trades at 19x book value and not projecting any profits for a while. I would avoid pot too. Until they get off schedule 1 those companies are going to be killed by the IRS(they can not write off many deductions because their product is illegal). Tilray got near $150 and is a $20 stock now.

Your defensive stocks may seem a little boring but they go up. You ain't never gonna see a WM or a WMT drop 80%.

Assuming the markets stop climbing at a certain point, what are some areas that won’t get hit as hard/may improve?

I’m looking to change some allotments in my work 401k sometime soon.

                                            Cash.

There will be no where to hide when things get rough. I see some folks sneaking into gold and RE for safety but they will be beaten to death too.

I like ETFs so for me it would be $MJ
Been dealing with ETF's for years and feel like our return can be diluted. Especially with Contango, which I arguably don't totally understand but have been burned when I bought/sold oil futures through power shares. USO and Brent.

Bitcoin rewards halving is due may 2020.

We can witness a cool contrast between central bank money supply expansion and cryptocurrency deflation in real world application.

I'm throwing in some bond target funds from 2022-2028 and some hedged bond funds and floaters. Pretty hard to get an average of 4% while keeping maturities under 8 years.

                                                              Tough market.

With lots of dough behind them from Constellation Wines and a new CEO that moved over from Cinstellation i have no worries. This bunch from Contellation know how to make money and once a few more regulatory issues are worked out vrooommmmm, watch Canopy move upwards...2020 will separate the men from the boys in this business, lots of buy-outs and bankruptcys this year, look for Canopy to be one of the last one's standing..jmo..
