#109LOL!! A sucker born every minute!!Originally posted by GregetNo actually the opposite is true. Before Obamacare many people couldn't even get health insurance because of prices, preexisting conditions, lifetime caps, etc...
Premiums are going up, they always go up, the question is how much, and the evidence suggests they are going up less now than before Obamacare.
My favorite is the Obamacare Chief Architect, Jonathan Gruber, who ADMITS that they relied on "the stupidity of the American voter" to get Obamacare to pass.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not some conservative critic in the video. This is one of the people who helped craft the bill ADMITTING that they were deliberately lying to the people, and it was the "stupidity of the American voter" that got it to pass. That's you he is talking about, buddy.Comment -

#12240% increase this year, but will my situation have anything to do with the ACA or Obama?Originally posted by gauchojakeGuys post your % increases and plan details when you get them and we will do a real life comparison.
So many different reasons my premiums could be up. I haven't looked too deep into it, I just went through open enrollment this week.
It could be because my income went up and my employer covers less of the cost as a result, I have had a huge year this year. It could be because my employer is covering less of the cost of my 5 dependents.
It could also be because of Obama fukking me over but I doubt it. My premiums have been getting jacked and coverage has been going down for 15 years. This shit started waaaay before the ACA.Comment -

#123The premiums are going up because of gouging. Has nothing to do with Obamacare. A family who went to the hospital for a delivery was charged $500 for the nurse to hold the baby after delivery. This is not Obamacare's fault. It's called corporate greed. And unless corporations quit being greedy no legislation can fix that regardless of which party is introducing it. Members of Congress own stock in healthcare companies. Do you think they sweat when premiums go up? No..they are counting their cash.Comment -

#124You are the only one in this thread that knows what is going on! I sell affordable care, also - maybe look for it more than you do. Goal is to enroll a 100 new customers this year - I know - that is one a day - but, I know where to look and I have people calling me every day this year - now that the word is out from my existing clientele.Originally posted by captrobeyYou would be surprised . I specialize in Medicare but i have helped and enrolled people in the exchanges just to be nice since they pay crap. Many that qualify were not ghetto . Those end up on Medicaid . Those that make too much pay full price . Those that fall in between get the subsidy. Sometimes it is not that much. The two that got the best was where one got it for like 16 cents another for 28 cents.
The new 2017 rates just become available on healthcare.gov yesterday for my state. The rates themselves - 300 bucks for a single male - 27 years old - ok - that is a lot of money - but, it is the target market for those people in that demographic that have an income of 20k or so. The people in that niche that make 100k - they can afford to pay it.
That's the whole purpose of affordable care is make it affordable for everybody - you make 50 k - 8% of that is 4k - that person can afford to pay 3.6k for their insurance.Comment -

#129Obamacare is not the insurance plan/policy itself. All people can buy the same policy-same rate - same coverage - to say the insurance is lousy is absolutely uneducated - it is the same thing as other people have. Obama care is the SUBSIDY! The help from the government to pay the premium. That is the only difference - some people get help paying for the premium - some do not. Some people get an income tax refund - some do not.
Are you guys also pissed off that other people got a tax refund and you did not???Comment -

I think what a lot do not get is that if it is a person applying and they are married- they will THINK they are going to get the subsidy because that person does not make a lot. Good luck in getting that many clients though that would be quite a feat. There are definitely people that need the help. Sad thing is most of the plans really are garbage. The Platinum level are so expensive most will not tough them. The Bronze level is pretty bad but the silver did have that 1 proactive plan but that was only in PA not sure what other states it was in. Almost every person i did went for that. Only one with no deductible and reasonable co-pays for doctor and specialist. Did you notice how bad the drug coverage was lol ? Most did not even cover brands.
My main thing though is Medicare though. Mainly 65 and older. Of course you do get the Disability under 65 too. But there are not tons of them. Mainly Medicare Supplements is what i sell. HMOs and the likes i do also but Med Supps are so much better once people see the difference they normally go for them. Right now it is my busy season with people switching drug plans. I pretty much do that for all my clients even though they do not pay much.
Of course there are the times i do the underage too when a husband is turning 65 but the spouse is not on Medicare yet. But if you do Medicare too besides the Healthcare Exchange you know eventually they will hit 65 right !!! Then those people you can pick up as a Medicare client. By then they already know and trust you and you can put them on a Med Supp and get paid for the next 6 years !!!Comment -

Very consistent messaging there.“I can say all of my employees are having a tremendous problem with Obamacare,” Mr. Trump said. “You folks, this is another group. Is that a correct statement? I mean you look at what they’re going through. What they’re going through with their health care is horrible because of Obamacare. So we’ll repeal it and replace it.”
Later, during an interview on Fox News, Mr. Trump said his employees don’t use the Affordable Care Act at all.
“I don’t use much Obamacare, to be honest with you,” he said. “I’m at Trump National Doral and we don’t use Obamacare. We don’t want it.”

#137Yes That is exactly true about LTC. It is hard to sell because of the premiums being so high. Medicare supplements really do not have many weaknesses. Especially the best plan the Plan F . No better Plan unless you have the Plan J which does not exist anymore anyway. But the 2 weaknesses of the Med Supp is after the 100 days of skilled nursing runs out there is nothing there. The other is the preventative. Dental, vision, no gym memberships lol . Stuff like that.Originally posted by BuckyOneI see your point about your choice of markets. Most responses when i mention LTC is i will just jump off a bridge it is too expensive. But there is Short Term Care. Home Care. I have sold a bunch of these as opposed to LTC . It gives them additional help for a VERY low premium. A 60-64 year old i can get for say $38 or so a month AND they lock it in at that price odds are permanently. I got it for my mom who actually we are using it for the first time ever now since she broke her arm. It pays a certain amount per week for 26 weeks. If you do not use it for 6 months after using some of it it even renews itself. I got a lesser amount for $450. I think i am paying in the $20s for her or so. But it is paying for a nurse to come and take care of her right now. It is WAY easier to get then LTC WAY easier questions. LTC you have to at least not be able to do 2 of the ADLs with this it does not matter. Just a few Med Questions and a doctors note and they get the cash.
PLUS let us not forget new clients get a lovely Card holder for their brand new Medicare Card and a wonderful drink mat with our logo on it to put their drinks on.Comment -

#140I believe rates are going up, because the hospitals and doctors can't fudge their uninsured numbers anymore.
If everyone has insurance, hospitals can't lie about their uninsured numbers.
Remember the fly by night Medicare offices on every street corner that got caught ripping off the govt for billions
by fudging patients?
Hospitals are used to all that money rolling in from the govt. Now it's drying up. They go to the insurance companies
crying they aren't making any money. With the insurance companies in cahoots with hospitals, our rates go up.
Don't know where you guys live, but I have 6 hospitals within a 5 mile radius of me.Comment
