Mods and Experienced online gamblers: I have a serious question for once.
Looks like these bastards are serious about this here
    in Minnesota:

I highlighted my concerns below in the article. My question is:

    1. I have funds out there in various books. What
would your recommendations be since they want to block
both internet access and phone access in the next few weeks?

Has anyone heard any chatter from the books point of view?

    Thanks.

    -----

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Alcohol and gambling regulators in Minnesota announced Wednesday they have sent notices to phone and internet providers ordering them to cut access of Minnesota-based computers to online gambling websites.

11 national and regional telephone and Internet service providers will be getting letters from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division, instructing them to prohibit access to nearly 200 gambling websites.
Online gambling is illegal in all U.S. states. Minnesota believes it's the first state to use a federal statute to restrict online gambling.
“We are putting site operators and Minnesota online gamblers on notice and in advance,” AGED Director John Willems said. “Disruption of these sites’ cash flow will negatively impact their business models. State residents with online escrow accounts should be aware that access to their accounts may be jeopardized and their funds in peril.”
Notices were delivered Monday, April 27. They were sent to:
    AT&T Internet Services
    Charter Communications
    Comcast Cable
    Direct TV
    Dish Network
    Embarq
    Sprint/Nextel
    Frontier Communications
    Qwest
    Verizon Wireless
    Wildblue Communications
Response from the notified internet providers is expected within two to three weeks, at which time issues of non-compliance will be referred to the Federal Communications Commission.
In the written notices, AGED also provided the telephone numbers for the websites and requested access to those numbers by Minnesotans to be prohibited. For more than two decades, telecoms have shut down telephone numbers at the request of law enforcement agencies when believed to be involved in illegal activities, such as sports book-making telephone numbers.

Seems to me that you could use a dial-up internet account with a company based in another state in order to access your sites still.

Nice Idea. I believe AOL's ip is from their main headquarters in Virginia. Regardless what city you live in if you have AOL as a isp the ip will ALWAYS come back to Virginia.

Also you could always use a proxy to get around ANY ban but then that would leave the door open for books to cry about ip changes (since the proxy ips change frequently) so your best bet would be to change your isp to AOL IMO. Thats if you didnt want to use the phone. Nobody can block phone access. LMFAO

Do they really expect you to post from the same computer every time you make a bet?

isp's know where you are surfing coz you use their DNS's.. do a google search for free domain name servers and change your windows settings.. if you cut off communicating with their dns, you might get through.. this is not a perfect solution as i can block you if i was behind the wheel.. but most isp's won't bother.. they'll do the minimum work and you will still be able to place bets

if this doesn't work, post back.. you can always take over a mac address of a person from another state to place bets and then release it

then there are wingates, proxys, oh my... lol

Although I have not tried that software jj, I doubt it will work.. those are to anonymize you from the website you are trying to connect to (like here if you wanted a ghost).. but if your ISP (the company you are paying for internet) blcoks you from ever reaching a website, those prgrams won't help..

again, i have not tried.. but to test, if someone knows that their ISP won't let them connect to a website, try it out and report back..

and i would take down the link jj.. lol.. makes it easy for everyone to have a ghost.. if they wanna mess around, at least let them do the work (sammy?) to get the knowledge..

Slowly but surely, we seem to losing a lot of our freedom to gamble. This is the land of the free?

This is a direct result of our govt. trying to bully the world.
