Sure you can. It might not come out the same consistency but should taste about the same.

I've never made it before but the store bought ones have citric acid in place of lemon juice, and canola oil in place of olive oil. I can do better I'm sure.

Yeah, I don't know that I would sub the cannolla for the olive oil. Have a jar of roasted peppers in the fridge? Throw one or two red ones in there.

OK...You can use the blender to make hummus. Buy tahini sauce from the store...it comes in jar or can form and buy a can of chick peas. Buy some garlick, olive oil, lemon juice, cumin, black pepper, salt and some paprica and fresh parsley to springle on top.

Put all the ingredients in the blender except paprika. Depending on how much you make you add a few tablespoons tahini sauce, olive oil and lemon juice with the cooked chick peas.

Tahini is an important flavor to make genuine humus but it can be left out. Think of what you are making as a chic pea paste if you leave out the sesame paste. This is also important to do if you are entertaining people with allergies.

I think my nearby market won't have tahini, but I know there is a shwarma place that sells it, it is snowy outside and I don't want to have to walk more than I have to.

                            HEY! Pavy, that sounds good.
