Money Line Parlays in the NBA = By Far the Best Way to Bet

I think that every point spread favorite on the board will win tonight on ML except possibly Dallas or Chicago. Will put a small parlay on this with a few two and three teamers.

Well, I didnt put one in for all 11, just 7 of them. I am up $2,000 tonight, only loss was Boston -3, damn point spreads

Congrats man, I have tried Round Robins but never for ML but may start. It seems like a lot less of a gamble than RRs on the spread, and some of these games in the NBA you might as well so play blackjack instead of parlaying point spreads.

I think tomorrow is a no play day but I might do a small play of Celtics ML with the Chargers ML. The NFL is pretty good for ML this time of year, but max 2-3 teams in the parlays.

I was very lucky early in my sports betting career. I started off following a guy who sells picks on the radio. He did pretty well for the baseball season that year. Then he totally tanked, I check his record from time to time, he has been in the tank for 3 years. Wow.

Anyway, I was in Vegas and I ran into a couple of pros. Older gentlemen and they liked me for some reason and they taught me a couple of things. The first thing I noticed was that they NEVER take the spread. Not on any sport. So, I never take the spread.

Now, a lot of people on here complain about the lines on ML, saying that you can't afford to lay 500 to win 100. But they are wrong. Playing the ML puts you in a tremendous advantage IF you know how to cap and know that the ML is correct (sometimes they lie).

ML is the way to go, especially on parlays.

Take tonight, I went 6-0 because I use the ML, if I had used the spread on those same games I would be 2-4.

I don't even watch games, I don't like sports, well, and I have a young pretty wife. How many times have you watched a game, sweating, because your line was -7 and your team was up by 6 and there were a few seconds to go? I don't have to worry about that. I only have to win by 1.

49ers haven't shown much of an ability to play close games against decent opponents on the road. They lost by 25 on the road to the seahawks, by 21 to the chiefs, by 18 to the packers, and by 21 even at home just a couple weeks ago vs Tampa bay


the chargers on the other hand have blown out 4 out of the 5 bad teams they have faced at home this year


the line on this game is 9.0. Personally I think Chargers will win this by about 24 (like 34-10)

This discusses using 2 pick parlays only.
If you can do it this way, and not everyone can admittedly, make your parlays as two pick. At most books you can set up a round robin by 2 across all the teams you like. What this does is give you every possible 2 pick parlay across the listed teams. The better way to do a group of parlays is to bet them all to win the same amount, but I have not yet found an online round robin bet that would let you set them up that way so you have to do it by hand. If you use a local you can probably set the bet up that way. After I wacked my local I have had a hard time finding a new one but I digress.

You can create your own round robin by hand and I usually do it that way. I posted today's round robin the way the online books will force you to do it. Here is an example of a 3 pick round robin where you bet each game to win the same amount.

Charlotte -190
Houston -525
Lakers -360

Charlotte Houston -122 Risk $1220 to win $1000
Charlotte Lakers -105 Risk $1050 to win $1000
Houston Lakers -192 Risk $1920 to win $1000

Here, we have risked $4140 to win $3000. If one team loses we lose two bets and win one bet. Let's say that Charlotte loses, then we lose $2270 and win $1000 for a net loss of $1270.

Now lets do the same 3 plays in a 3 pick parlay to win $3000.
Charlotte -190
Houston -525
Lakers -360

We risk $2270 to win $3000.
Now if Charlotte loses we lose $2270.

Doing the parlays by 2 instead of by 3 is less risk.
Now, if 2 teams lose then the by 2 strategy really blows. We lose $4140. I have been doing this a long time and very rarely will you have 2 high odds teams lose in the same day. Over an entire season the x2 parlay strategy is better.

This is a risk management strategy and in gambling risk management is everything.

Ive thought about doing them but really dont understand them, this puts it a little more in perspective.

No.

A round robin is a parlay of the size you specify across all the teams you list.

Lets say you pick:
Lakers
Pistons
Celtics

A 2x round robin gives you 2 pick parlays in every possible way for the 3 teams.
A 3x round robin gives you a 3 pick parlay.

If you have 4 teams, say
Lakers
Pistons
Celtics
Bulls

A 2x gives you 2 pick parlays across all 4 teams.
A 3x gives you 3 pick parlays across all 4 teams.
A 4x gives you a 4 pick parlay.

A lot of books don't offer round robins so you have to place the bets manually, which is actually better because you want each bet to win the same amount, and you calculate that amount by taking the 2 teams with the worst line.

So, say you have 5 teams and 3 of them are -200 and 1 is -500 and 1 is -800. You calculate the odds of the -500 playing the -800 and determine how much you want to win on that game. That is the to win you use on all the games, even the 3x, 4x, and 5x. The reason is that a 2x is more likely to win than a 3x, and the 2 teams with the biggest line are more likely to win.

I don't list the parlays using this approach because I don't have time to type out all the games separately and no book that I can find let's you place the bets this way automatically, so you have to do it by hand. Given 6 teams and doing 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, and 6x if you had to list all the games separately you would have over 100 games to type out and I doubt if anyone here wants to read all that mess. LOL

I don't bet NFL so I can't help you there.

I don't play close favs in the NBA, only blow out favs, I usually only take 7 point favs or higher. The other day I did a round robin with a bunch of close favs but I was fooling around. What I recommend is only take favs that are 7 points or more.

Here is what I recommend and my friends and I have been doing this for a long time and never had a losing NBA season. Not even close.

List all the teams that are favored by 7 or more.
Cap the games to make sure that the handicappers aren't setting a trap.

Play all the teams that are favored by 7 or more in 2 pick parlays across all of these teams. Bet to win the same amount on each parlay. This means you will bet more on the big favorites and less on the smaller favorites but don't take any team below 7 points.

Now if you want to really push this you can set up your own parlay using single bets on games that are far enough apart time wise. I do this in college basketball all the time. Let's say that you have a game you like going at 1 PM and another game you like going at 7 PM. Instead of paying the vig on the parlay you make your own no vig parlay by betting the 1 PM game straight up and then letting the winnings ride on the 2nd game. Let's say the first game was a -300 team and you bet it $300 to win $100, and it wins. The later game you let the $100 winning ride on the play, let's say it was also a -300 team. You want to play this game to win $100 so you take the $100 you already won and let it ride, now risking $200. What you have done here is created a parlay with no vig. I do this all the time.

I have some friends who don't do it this way. They want 1 to 1 odds so they pick enough games to get 1 to 1 odds. They combine NCAAB and NBA and take the most extreme odds. They are very successful, and I have done it this way also. Whether you use 2 pick parlays or bigger parlays is up to you but mathematically 2 pick are better. Takes a bigger bankroll of course.

Denver vs San Antonio why such a low line?

In capping this game it looks like San Antonio ML is the play. I don't usually take games where the spread is this low but this looks wrong to me.

I'm fairly new at the NBA, so I'm starting off with low amounts. I wish I would have played the RR that curious suggested (that play would have been sick!), but like I said, just getting my feet wet with the NBA. +$500 after the second day of betting (won with LAL/HOU the night before, but lost with Tenn/Louisville in NCAAB), so I'm not complaining! Will be following this thread closely.

I agree. Games are tough tonight. I do like SD Chargers -9 in NFL though.

Although I lost my Tenn/Louisville bet on Tues, I think this strategy would work out quite well in NCAAB, especially early on in the season in non conference play.

Depends on where I place them. If I use a local, no. If I use a US book, yes. If I use a non-US book, no.
