#40another point being made is lebron is the star of the league the face of the nba as of right now , and like jordan was the face of this league for a long time he needs to treat these series in a more passionate and urgent way like stars from the past not only like jordan , but like bird magic and today kobe who sends message to his teamates that losing is not an obtion, and we will do everything in our power to make sure we cant be beat. lets see if lebron has that killer instinct or would he rather dance with his teamates and throw powder in the air!!!!!!1 could never imagine bird magic or jordan ever dancing on bench b4 the gameComment -

#41Lyon,
The FA moves next year are going to completely change the dynamic of NBA teams. Lebron will only leave if he goes to a better team than he has now. Every team Lebron plays for after this year will be better than this years Cavs team. Trust me, Riley is going to bring in an absolute stud to Miami. The championships will run through Wade and Lebron (Kobe next). Dwight will struggle to win a ring because he doesnt have the firey competativeness like Jordan, Kobe, Wade. He can't carry a team when the rest of the team is stuggling. Trust me bro, I already know how its going to play out.
Watch the moves that are made next year. Lebron's team and Wade's team will be the favorites to win it all. And from there on out, they will only play on contending teams b/c they know they only have x years remaining.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

I ain't disagreeing with you. If anything I am agreeing with. The one thing to consider is the "IT" factor. Lebron's skills are great, but I don't know if he has the "IT" factor and if you don't have that it doesn't matter. Some people are destined to not win anything.. I.E. Dan Marinio.. one of the greatest QB's of all time with...nothing.
Also, Nobody can offer what Cleveland can offer Lebron, right? As far as money goes I think Lebron stays in Cleveland.
As far as competing goes... I never seen anybody more determined in my life to win anything in any sport the way Jordan was.... Kobe, is a close second to being obsessed with it. As good as Lebron is he doesn't have the skill level of Kobe. Kobe, has developed an amazing post game over the years and Lebron wouldn't know anything about that. Lebron, lives of his natural skills. He hasn't created anything he wasn't given. Players are not born knowing how to paly in the post... they learn it like Kobe has. Bryant is the best PG in the post in the league.
Lebron James is an amazingly talented player...one of the best I have seen an I have 25+ of NBA.. He however is not obsessed with winning a championships like the true greats of the games..Majic,Jordan,Russell, Bryant, West, and ,many more I forget about. Lebron, is just Lebron and until he proves me something different I will consider him just a damn good player.
Now, I know some here will tell me about how good his postseason stats are..yes, his stats are awesome. But winning a championship is more than stats..It,s the intangibles. it's the drive to take it from somebody because it don't come easy.
Will see tonite what kinda of player/person Lebron is tonite.. He can't take it tonite if he is commited and driven, but it won't be easy..
A game like tonite if Jordan was in this scenario you could bet your children's children on Jordan winning tonite. No way he would come out a loser tonite. Jordan, would send a message to all doubters if there was any.Comment -

#49First off...this thread is awesome!!
Agree that this is def Kobe's era, but the torchlight is flickering and the league is (has?) moving on. And lonegambler is right about the marketablity aspect playing into too much of the player antics. Every commercial break seems to show some player doing "extra" on the court action to display their "passion" for the game (dancing, powder tossing, yelling at the roof of the arena) when the "killer" instinct was all the passion that was needed back in the day. Win or Go Home wasn't just a slogan.
GM, you don't want to go there with The Big Fundamental LOL But try this one on...
If it were a 3-on-3 of D-Wade, Bron, and Kobe. I would match-up with (young) Shawn Kemp, MJ, and Reggie Miller. Game over!Comment -

#55Kobe somehow always manages to sneak in a Lebron thread.
GM, if the Mamba does not sneak the title away from Lebron this year, the nails start hammering on that chase for 6 with LA. He may get one as a role player with Atlanta or Chicago in 2013
Here's a few reasons why there will never be another MJ, esp not Kobe....Michael played against a different era of ALL-Stars (maybe the toughest 84-90???) effortlessly. 3-peated twice as the Go-To, where Mamba played second fiddle to the Diesel, and Chicago remains the only team in NBA history besides the Pistons to win a finals without a dominant offensive big-man (Bill Cartwright, Wennington, etc.). Finally, look at his playoff stats and find a comparison that equals them....Wake me when you find that!
they also never played anyone in the finals in 6 tries that had a dominant big man

Lebron Wade Kobe would beat MJ Bird Magic. MJ and any other 2 you want to name. Lebron and Wade are beasts, they're faster and stronger at their position than any player in the past. 3 on 3 is about strength, speed, and 1 on 1 game. Magic and Bird weren't 1 on 1 ballers, neither was Reggie Miller he just came off screens.
Lyon,
Bron doesn't care about contract money because the money he makes from endorsements shits on that contract money. He's going to go next year whereever he has the best chance to win a ring. He doesn't care about money anymore. Lebron will win at least 2 rings, I don't even want him to win 1 though.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

I appreciate itYea, your right Jordan would have created something in his mind to inspire him over the top tonite. No way Jordan would lose tonite under these circumstances after losing HC and playing like shit the last week or so. That Jordan was the most driven human being I have seen be it basketball are not. The guy was a absolute animal at life in general. I have heard the way many players talked about him and when other great players like Majic, Bird, Isiah, Barkley of his generation are in awe of him like they were you know the dude just had "IT"
Lebron, doesn't have it.. You go and ask the real players in the NBA and they will all tell you they fear Kobe more. You can go on youtube and here scores of players admitting Kobe is the best in the game stilll... I think I will take there word for it since they are competing against both.
All Lebron has ever proved so far is he is a great talent and a good teammate, but he needs more than that to get him a ring.Comment -

#59hmmm... this whole kobe vs. lebron thing looks a lot like the whole russell vs chamberlain thing, dont ya think? Pretty much comes down to one player realizing he has 4 teammates he can use to his advantage and the other doesn't. Don't worry Lebron fans, the kid is young, he'll get better. A better coach or mentor would definitely help Lebron. It took kobe (and jordan) a while to figure it out too. Heres a crazy thought, Phil Jackson to the Cavs. now that would be cool. Lebron was quoted as saying that he would love to play for jackson.Comment -

#60whether or not jordan would lose a game like this would depend on which jordan your talking about. 80's jordan could lose this game, maybe even an underdog to win this one. 90's jordan, having jackson as a coach, WILL NOT lose this one. Lebron is better than Kobe easily. Compare their numbers the last few years and account for Kobe having a better supporting cast to help him look more efficient. Career stats are the most meaningless in the NBA relative to other team sports. The large numbers that people don't care to remember are one reason, the other that the sport's consistent enough where players mostly have the same stats every season year after year.Comment -

#67the 80's jordan and then came jackson , u may say im crazy but jacksonn came along at the right time after the bulls have gone threw there case of growing pains with loses to the pistons,a nd then here comes jackson who inherits a maturing jordan and a team that was ready to get through there growin pains and get to next level . then jackson leaves the bulls and he goes to lakers where he inherits kobe bryant and shaq cmon now he picked and choosed the places where he knew he couldnt fail. he arguably has coached 3 of the most dominant men in there sport in the peak of there careers. he maybe a good coach but coaching those players who wouldnt be? let jackson go the knicks and turn them around and coach a losing organization and embarassment to the nba like the knicks and lets then see how he can coach and his ability to win. pat riley went to knicks and had a far less talented team with the 94 knicks and had them in postion to beat rockets if starks dont go 1-40 shooting point being he took a down team and taught them the desire to what it takes to win, where jackson was always handed a great situationComment -

#70If James wants to make a real legacy of himself, it has to start in this series. He didn't say it but the Cavs backs are against the wall and if he can't get it done this year he will lose a lot of respect from his fans, critics and fellow players. And then if the Cavs do lose in the playoffs he will most likely leave the city of Cleveland without a ring for himself and a championship for the city. If this does happen, this is what Lebron will be remembered for. Thats why this series is so critical for him. I sure hope he gets it done! Im tired of all this damn losing in Cleveland!!!!
