Hard Rock & Betway approved to launch in Illinois
Last week, the Illinois Gaming Board approved the licensing of two new sports betting operators: Hard Rock Bet and Betway.

Each will pay the staggering $20 million licensing fee and move the list of sportsbook operators in Illinois from 7 to 9.

This will be Hard Rock's 6th state to launch in while Betway will now be in 10 US markets.

"Illinois has been one of the most reliable and successful legal sports betting markets in the country. In May alone, during a time that usually signals a major downturn in sports wagering activity across the U.S., an impressive $821.7 million handle was reported.

Illinois is one of just five U.S. states boasting at least one month with a $1 billion plus handle. Last October, Illinois sports betting apps took in a whopping $1.03 billion."

The $20 mil app fee is only for the online-only sportsbooks, which is Betway. Hard Rock is tethered, which I believe is $10 mil fee.
