I don't get why they are not enforcing the shootout rule that does not allow for the player to come to a stop or move backwards. Completely idiotic.

#2838That shot was pretty dope if you ask me LOL... probably even a better save too. He's def done that at practice and has been saving it for a game like this. He had his spin down perfect in order to force the puck in the far post, Rask just made a great save. I Don't think he feels like a dumbass, you can see his reaction afterwards.. he knows he should of had that!!
All in all I'm not a big fan of the "trick shot" but hey do what you do! If you can't snipe it 5hole or high post if the goalie sits back then you shouldn't be in a shootout if you ask me..
I hate it when players force bad shots in the shootout, its like they have it pre determined before they go... which is a
I dunno if either of you guys play(ed) any hockey, but the move is pretty typical (for a trick-shot) and I am sure Rask has had plenty of guys try that on him in practice. As a professional goalie this was probably one of the easier saves for him on the night. He knew with that puck position there was no way it was leaving the ice, so butterfly and keep an eye on it. Not saying it was easy, but I woulda been more impressed if he did that the whole way in, spun, mid-spin changed stick position, then roofed it on the backhandComment -

You make a good point with Rask knowing he more than likely wasn't gonna get the puck off the ice. It was entertaining but I still prefer a straight forward shot top shelf than this circus shit.Comment -

Maybe next time he will flip his stick over and use the butt end to carry it in.Comment -

#2844Well if Rask knew what was coming why did he have to stretch out his left leg in the splits to make the save? He could have easily tried to force it 5 hole or left the spin out of it, so u can't say "Rask knew what was coming". It was something new that he had never seen in a shootout before, and it almost worked. I played goalie at a high level for years, when players use to come in on me in a shootout with a weird approach it made me lose a bit of confidence and i can guarantee thats what he was going for here. Its easy to get a sign from a player in a shootout, looking for a front dipped shoulder usually tells u they are going high on that side where as a lower back shoulder is usually a sign of a backhand coming, lots of shooters and players usually have a quick peak where they want to put the puck when they are skating down, and if they are coming in wide a poke check is a good play... Goalies strive off confidence and when they are unsure there is no better feeling for an opposing player, the player can dip his shoulders or look 5 hole the whole time and give off as many tell tale"signs" as he wants but at the end of the day rask is really not going to have a clue what he is doing, or where he is going with the puck. Sure hes seen it in practice, but i bet hes seen a few different varietys of it and he was left guessing last night.... Dont forget rask stretched out in the splits and made a left toe save on the goal line to keep it out and give his team a shot at winning, Dont know how puckit says this is one of his easiest saves of the night. It can be pretty hard to follow a puck when a player is spinning with it so fast and doesnt lose control. So i guess my question is Puckit have u played hockey? or better yet goalie? Because i cant remember the last time a goalie stretched out in the splits, made a toe save on the goal line, in a shoot out and it was the easiest save of the night.....Comment -

#2856they gotta protect theirself. FLA has given up a lot of goals. 3.73/game. If they're gonna let people play o2.5, they gotta juice it. Can't expose theirself to getting wiped out putting an even 2.5 up, and let over people hammer it and crush them. You might win, but you gotta lay -160 and if they only get 2 you get burnt. Juice might scare some people off too. And if the books get lopsided, you never know they could get a huge win if it doesn't go over.Comment -

#2858They're playing a top 3 best defensive team in the nhl with terrific goaltending. Teams that play that high-style offense (Flyers) get shut down by Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg. Flyers got shut out 0 goals on saturday. Bruins can shut down Tampa Bay, anyone. They play a very solid defensive game. If they get an early lead on you, they play that conservative game and give up nothing. Best PK in nhl too. BOS is on 2nd of back to back though. tough night in ottawa coming back from down 0-2 to win it 3-2 in SO. might have tired legs.Comment -
