#284Maybe next time they'll learn their lesson and start these outdoor games at night. Of course, it's after midnight on the East coast so they probably won't get the viewership they want for this high profile game but at least they're able to play the game without any issues at night and it's nice for us West Coasters to have something to watch before bed on a Saturday night.Comment -

#290Anaheim Ducks have recalled center Trevor Zegras from the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Zegras, 19 years old (born 3/20/01), began the season with San Diego, scoring 4 goals and 5 assists with a +4 rating and eight penalty minutes (PIM) in eight AHL games. At the time of his recall, the 6'-0", 176-pound forward co-led the AHL in scoring, ranked tied for fourth in goals and tied for sixth in assists, while co-leading all rookies in assists.Comment -

#291Going back to Sunday Feb.7, home teams have won 38 of 97 games (my unofficial count)
Translates into 39% win percentage for Home teams during the 16-calendar-days stretch
Looking at data (a couple years old), the league average for home team win percentage during the Regular season was 55%
I wonder if this past two weeks is because of:
1) No fans in attendance,
2) Divisional structure modified for this season,
3) Just a short-term anomaly, or
4) a combination of these factors?Comment -

#299The Sharks practiced for the first time since Tuesday as no other player besides Tomas Hertl landed on the NHL’s COVID-19 list with a positive coronavirus test. Their home game Saturday with the St. Louis Blues remained on track to be played as scheduled.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

#303Edmonton Oilers
Alex Stalock was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Wild on Monday.
The goalie has not played this season because of an upper-body injury sustained before training camp but was skating with the Wild. Stalock set personal NHL-bests last season in wins (20), shutouts (four), starts (36) and games played (38), and is 61-49-18 with a 2.61 goals-against average, .909 save percentage and nine shutouts in 151 NHL games.
"You look at the number of starts he had last year, [general manager Ken Holland] and his staff thought he was a good insurance policy for us," Oilers coach Dave Tippett said. "I think it's a good pick-up."
Oilers goalies Mike Smith and Mikko Koskinen, who have started 22 of Edmonton's 23 games this season, have combined for a .912 save percentage.
Edmonton plays the Toronto Maple Leafs at home Monday (10 p.m. ET; ESPN+, SN1, SNO, SNW, NHL.TV). -- Derek Van Diest, independent correspondentComment -

#305Can't believe Minnesota choked away a 2 goal lead against Vegas. I didn't bet the game with real money but that was my pick in the dog of the day contest. That contest is tough enough to win without stomach punches like that. BTW congrats Batt on taking down the February contest. At least the top prize went to one of the hockey regulars in this thread.Comment -

#310Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will miss at least one game — Tuesday night versus the Philadelphia Flyers — after being placed on the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list. The hope is that this is a precautionary measure, and not a positive test.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

#312Stepan out for season for Senators with shoulder injury
Forward to have surgery for torn labrum, expected to recover prior to 2021-22
Derek Stepan will be out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury for the Ottawa Senators.
The forward, who was injured in a 5-4 shootout win against the Montreal Canadiens on Feb. 23, will have surgery to repair a damaged labrum after dislocating his left shoulder.
Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said Stepan is expected to recover in time for next season.
"Derek was coming into his own," Ottawa coach D.J. Smith said. "It wasn't fair to him, the (COVID-19) quarantine and no exhibition [games], and I really thought he was coming into his own. He was doing a nice job with that line (with Tim Stutzle and Drake Batherson), just showing them how hard you have to play away from the puck. And a guy that's played a lot of games and he did what we brought him in to do. It's just unfortunate, injuries happen."
Stepan, who was acquired by Ottawa in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes on Dec. 26, 2020, scored six points (one goal, five assists) in 20 games. He is in the final season of a five-year contract he signed with the New York Rangers on July 27, 2015 and can become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
"It's tough. He's a great guy," Ottawa forward Connor Brown said. "I got to know him pretty well in the short stint, as we all did. He's a character, a good player, good leader. We're going to miss him big time."
The Senators lost 3-1 at the Canadiens on Tuesday.

#313speaking of the Ottawa Senators, the goalie Joey Daccord who got the start on Tuesday on the road in Montreal, had a solid game. Allowed 2 goals on 32 shots in the game which saw a score of 2-1 Canadiens lead, until they scored an empty net goal after Daccord was pulled.
Daccord only started one prior game, on April 4, 2019 for the Senators in a road loss at Buffalo, allowing 5 goals on 40 shots in that game.
He looked good on Tuesday and has likely earned some more future starts in net for Ottawa.Comment -

#314Antti Raanta was the winning goalie for the Arizona Coyotes on Wed. night at the Los Angeles Kings, stopping 40 of 42 shots for the 3-2 final score (in regulation).
Raanta is now 6-0-1 vs. the LA Kings during his entire career
Although this game wasn't a shutout,
Raanta interestingly has shutout the Kings on 3 occasions, doing it once with each of the 3 teams he has played for (with Blackhawks, Rangers, Coyotes)Comment -
