Nashville still did well in trading Weber's bad contract for Subban in the first place

wow, he was the captain on San Jose

Dallas already has Jamie Benn as captain, that won't change

Pavelski is 35 years old, but has stayed pretty consistent with season points scored in the mid-60's the past 3 years. Had 38 goals last season for the Sharks, which tied his personal 2nd-best season for goals in his entire 13-year career.

Pavelski did play out his 5-year contract with the Sharks and was an Unrestricted Free Agent

Sharks had to give up resigning some good players because of the huge money they gave to Karlsson .

is this guy gonna retire or what? He had a 1-year contract for $5 million, now a UFA

Thornton's bid to win the Stanley Cup for the first time fell short when the Sharks were eliminated by the Blues in the conference final last season, he showed he still can contribute. Thornton, who turns 40 on July 2, had 51 points (16 goals, 35 assists) in 73 regular-season games and 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 19 Stanley Cup Playoff games. Thornton loves life in California, and in May he said that he's "a Shark," so it's hard to envision him going far (if anywhere) if he does continue playing. Thornton has 1,478 points (413 goals, 1,065 assists) in 1,566 regular-season games and 133 points (31 goals, 102 assists) in 179 playoff games with the Sharks and Bruins.

''If we're really here working for our fans, let's reward their belief. They said we're willing to make this commitment a year early. We're willing to bring on a general manager earlier than any other expansion team in the history of the NHL and that gift of an additional year will serve us well and give us a chance to scout and build and plan. But we had to find the right person.''

He'll have complete control of building the organization under Leiweke. He said he's already drawn up an organizational chart that will guide hiring as the team prepares to open play in 2021 as the NHL's 32nd franchise.
