Steven Souza Jr. (TB) hit a solo home run in the fifth today and he crushed one yesterday, I am going to keep an eye on this guy.

Hard to believe he didn't make a single pickoff attempt in his last 67 starts dating back to 2013.

This is a crazy stat! Teams should be running and hit and running on him all game!

The Cubs are set to call up third base prospect Kris Bryant on Friday, CBSSports Baseball Insider Jon Heyman confirms.

Bryant enjoyed massive success this spring, going 17 for 40 and smacking nine home runs while driving in 15 runners. However, the team decided not to activate his service clock at the beginning of the season, sending him down to Triple-A Iowa, where he's 9 of 28 with three home runs, 10 RBI and two stolen bases.

Bryant, who was named the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball by Baseball America before the season, will serve as the team's regular third baseman in Chicago.
The Cubs are expected to clear a roster spot by sending third baseman Mike Olt to the 15-day disabled list, according to ESPN Chicago, who initially broke the news of the impending promotion. Olt is reportedly dealing with a hairline fracture of his right wrist and is set to wear a cast for three weeks.

OTD: Roberto Clemente makes his debut

On this date in 1955, the RF debuted for the Pirates. Among his career accomplishments: Four NL batting titles, the 1966 NL MVP and 12 straight Gold Gloves. Clemente died in a plane crash in 1972 while delivering aid to his homeland of Puerto Rico.

I've never seen him pitch before his win vs the Dodgers Saturday.

He appears to be something special and if he can bring up the K's...Look out.

The amazing and historically great Mike Trout added another notch to his belt on Friday night. The Angels center fielder took Astros righty Roberto Hernandez deep for a two-run homer in the sixth inning, which was the 100th home run of his young career.

Trout went into Friday's game with 99 homers and 104 steals in his career, and, according to ESPN, he is the youngest player in history to reach 100 homers and 100 steals:
Alex Rodriguez previously held the record at 23 years and 309 days.
Trout also hit his 101st career homer later in the game.

-Meh, was really hoping he would tank it, but he's off to a good start.

Alex Rodriguez had a monster night in Friday's 5-4 win over the Rays, slugging two home runs and hitting a go-ahead RBI single.

He's still got it. Rodriguez launched a solo homer in the second inning before adding a two-run blast in the sixth. He then put the Yankees ahead for good in the eighth inning with a line drive single to center field. This was the 61st multi-homer game of his career and his first since May 23, 2012. He's now up to 658 home runs for his career, which puts him two away from tying Willie Mays for fourth on the all-time list. After missing a year due to a PED suspension, the 39-year-old Rodriguez is batting .344/.432/.781 with four home runs and 11 RBI through 10 games.

CHICAGO (AP) On his second day with the Cubs, Kris Bryant played like the top prospect Chicago was expecting.
Bryant got a standing ovation for his first major league hit and reached base five times Saturday in a 7-6, 11-inning win over the San Diego Padres.
A day after Bryant went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts in his big league debut, he was 2 for 3 with a pair of singles and three walks.
''You're always looking for good at-bats and being a good decision-maker. He was that today,'' Cubs manager Joe Maddon said.
With the Cubs trailing 2-1 in the fifth, Bryant hit a broken-bat single off the end of his bat into short center to drive in the tying run, earning a big cheer from the 33,958 fans at Wrigley Field.
''We'll take it against a tough right-handed pitcher,'' Maddon said.
Bryant had allowed Wil Myers' bouncer leading off the game to kick off his glove for his first major league error. Bryant did not speak with reporters after the game.
''He made the one gaffe but overall he played well, ran the bases good and he had a good baseball game today,'' Maddon said. ''I think the fans, the folks who watch the game closely, they understand the importance of accepting your walks. You don't look for your walk, you accept your walk, and after yesterday it was ingrained in his mind that I'm not going to do that again. And he had some really good at-bats.''
Bryant walked against Tyson Ross in the first and fourth innings.
''He did a really good job. We know he's got talent. We just need to take a little bit of pressure off his shoulders,'' said Miguel Montero, who homered twice and drove in three runs. ''He's a young kid, and he has all the talent in the world. He's going to be good.''
Bryant walked in the seventh, flied out in the ninth and reached on an infield single to shortstop in the 11th against Craig Kimbrel (0-1), moving Anthony Rizzo to third with one out. Pinch-hitter David Ross walked to load the bases, bringing up Starlin Castro.

Can't believe that there's not a better way to make a padded hat.
Although after seeing Jerry Blevins break his arm on a shot up the middle I can't blame anyone who wants to wear that hat.

Rough day for the Mets with the win, Blevins breaks his arm and d'Arnaud breaks his hand.

Another big prospect on his way up.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Carlos Rodon will be recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.

Rodon will pitch out of the bullpen initially, but it's only a matter of time before he replaces Hector Noesi in the team's rotation. If he's unowned in any mixed leagues, now is the time to scurry to the waiver wire and secure the studly young left-hander.
