I coach my daughter's 10-u softball team and last Saturday this exact thing happened with the pitcher from the other team. One of my players ripped a line drive right to her forehead. Fractured skull, and brain bleeding. The little girl had to be taken by helicopter to Memorial Herman Children's Hospital in downtown Houston for emergency brain surgery. The sound of that ball hitting her head was horrible. I make all my players wear a face mask, they're like $25 and could save a life. I think it should be mandatory for youth sports, this kind of injury happens all the time.
