#773Agree 100%Originally posted by MexicanStallionKershaw should have been starting the game and that little fiasco could have been potentially avoided. Wainwright has had a nice year, but Kershaw should have had the honors.
I figured that his no-hitter and scoreless streak would have sealed the deal.Comment -

#775Question for anyone with an opinion.
Who has a bigger (if any) regression in the 2nd half?
Jose Altuve
Scott Kazmir
I have Kazmir in a season long 5x5 and are debating trading Him and Andrelton Simmons for Jose Altuve and Mets closer Mejiaa
Dont really need to closer currently but I do have Joe Smith who could be without a job. Currently in 1st but got a few teams right on my tail.
ThanksComment -

I do know one thing, I'm sure Bryant is anxious to step to the plate with the wind blowing out at Wrigley...
I'd like to see him get called up just to see what he can do against MLB pitching.Comment -

I'm not seeing a regression for either of them.
This is a tough one...
If I had to choose, I'd rather have Kazmir and Simmons over Altuve and Mejia.
I'm interested in other posters' opinions on this one, too.
On a side note: It was great seeing Altuve get an RBI on Tuesday night. He also made a really nice play in the field.
Best of Luck to you and a late congrats on the Mod position, DS!

#781A trade that will send All-Star closer Huston Street to the Angels has been agreed upon, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. It'll be Street and one Padres minor-leaguer for four prospects. The trade won't be official until the Padres and Angels games are concluded Friday night.
Taylor Lindsey is one of the prospects who will be headed back to the Padres, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. Other reports are surfacing that R.J. Alvarez and Jose Rondon are also headed to San Diego.
Street, 30, has converted 24 of 25 save opportunities this season with a 1.09 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 34 strikeouts against only seven walks in 33 innings pitched. A closer since his rookie year -- when he won the AL Rookie of the Year -- Street has saved 258 games in 300 chances (86 percent) in his career with a 2.87 ERA (148 ERA+). He's a two-time All-Star.
Street is also familiar with the AL West, having spent the first four seasons of his career with the Athletics.
The move puts Street in the closer role with Joe Smith, Kevin Jepsen and the recently-acquired Jason Grilli (1.29 ERA since the trade) possible setup options.Comment -

The Orioles came into Saturday with a four-game lead in the AL East despite getting a 4.07 ERA from their rotation, the ninth worst in baseball and the worst in the division. Starting pitching figures to be on their trade deadline shopping list, and they are reportedly having preliminary talks with the Phillies about A.J. Burnett.
Burnett's wife is from Maryland and they live there in the offseason, so he's been connected to the Orioles just about every time he's been a free agent in his career.
The 37-year-old Burnett is 6-9 with a 4.08 ERA in 21 starts and 136 2/3 innings for Philadelphia this year. His strikeout (7.4 K/9) and ground ball (49.6 percent) rates are way down from his last two seasons with the Pirates while his walk rate (3.8 BB/9) is way up. That's not a good combination.
The Phillies signed Burnett to a one-year deal worth $16 million guaranteed in the spring. The contract includes a $15 million mutual option for 2015, though if the team declines their half, Burnett holds a $7.5 million player option for next year, which could complicate things.
Philadelphia has the seventh worst record in baseball at 42-54, coming into Saturday. Veteran left-handers Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels are also said to be on the trade block should the Phillies finally decide to sell.Comment -

#804The Tigers have traded for Rangers reliever Joakim Soria , according to 97.1 The Ticket. The move was confirmed by CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.
The Tigers bullpen has struggled this season, collectively posting a 4.41 ERA. That is the fifth worst figure among major-league bullpens. Soria has been solid this season, posting a 2.70 ERA over 33 1/3 innings. It's unclear whether Soria will be used as the closer, or if he'll set up Joe Nathan.Comment -
