Sounds like a good simple system Rickie.

#772ok, my wheels have been spinnin' for a few minutes so here's my concept for our very own in-house SBR Nascar Forum Fantasy Racing League:
week 1 - the crapshoot known as Daytona, just pick any 5 drivers for your roster, and tie-breaker of # of cars finishing on the lead lap. 2nd tie-breaker is earliest entry.
week 2 and the rest of the season -- each driver has a salary based on their season points rank, so the driver that wins daytona will also be the points leader for the season and would have a salary of 1, 2nd at daytona has a salary of 2, etc. after each race the drivers salary will change based on their season points to date. With this method we don't have to make up our own salary's like the idea from above. And, each roster has to have a MINIMUM salary of 60 pts so we can't just load up with the top drivers every week.
You can only use drivers in the top 43 for the season on your roster, that way we can't load up with ringers on road courses (unless thay happen to be in the top 43 for the season).
the weekly thread will start with the season points ranking so there is no confusion on any drivers salary for the week.
I'm sure theres more details to add but my brains tired now. just a thought for our own if we can't find a good 3rd-party site.Comment -

#773should still do segments just to break it up into 3 sessions I think. pay some points up front for segment prize and then weekly pts for weekly prize like we did with espn. salaries would be whatever the actual season points rank before each race whether we do segments or not.Comment -

#775We'll get everything started up this coming week, ideally i'm hoping for us to play 2 different Contests for the first segment. ( I know that will make 3 counting Opti/Yisman's but its only for the first Segment).
Then we can decide to continue playing both of the new ones or just 1 for the rest of year. (I think it will be fun to test drive a couple new ones).
No worries guys, im down for us to keep our Super Competitive Tradition going. Looking forward to something new.Comment -

#777Guys with Fox Sports being such a big player in Nascar I think 1 of our 2 New Contests should be theirs. Its not a salary so our other contest should be if possible. It does offer a few new things tho, and scoring is cool. Check It Out: Fox Fantasy Racing, Group Name : The SBR Nascar Elite Team, Password: sbrnascar1 Heres some info on it below.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For each race of the season, you can specify five drivers to earn you points for the race. One driver is designated the "Captain" and is worth twice the points.
The season is broken into segments of 13, 13 and 10 races. The same driver can be used a maximum of four times per segment. This rule is important as it should play a role in building your roster strategy.
Drivers earn points based on race finish and can earn bonus points for leading a lap, leading the most laps and finishing ahead of their qualifying position.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tracking your team's performance can be done in a variety of ways:
The Weekly Standings show how your team did for a specific race. The Group Scorecard shows how your team and drivers fared for a specific race.
The Segment Standings show how your team is doing for an individual segment of the season. The Group Leaderboard breaks down performance within the group per segment.
The Overall Standings wrap up each segment into a season total. Do you have what it takes to be the overall leader for the entire season?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on your finish each week, each segment and for the entire season's contest, you may win some awesome prizes!
Review the Prizes page to see what's at stake.Comment -

#778I'm down for it CD, we gotta get something go'in. Daytona will be here before we know it. I've already picked my team and joined the group.
How are we gonna work out the points for the segment and the weekly? Same as last year? I'm still kinda unfamiliar with how the scoring will work for Fox, but we should be able to figure it outLast edited by mikejamm; 02-03-14, 03:32 PM.Comment -

#781I went thru half the ideas we have on the board today and eliminated some:
Yahoo & USA Today- Opti, Yisman & Me both played for awhile last year, I quit about half way thru the 1st segment it just got boring.
Then I was so hoping that Nascar.com had cleaned up their act, as their 2014 Fantasy Live Scoring Game ($100 Salary) offered everything we needed plus winning car manufacturer and top performing pit crew got extra points. BUT.....2 big problems with it. 1st- I couldn't even get their registration process to allow me to sign up where I could check things out. 2nd- while salaries do change every week there is no segments, its yearly.
Rickie's idea even without a site to watch live scoring was a good one. We may have to adjust the 60 Minimum Salary (Maybe). But I think that's the way we go, Rickie's Salary Contest & I'd like to add the Fox Sports also (Sign Up Details in Post #777). Mikejamm signed up today for the Fox one.Comment -

#788So no buying drivers just can"t use 1 more than 4 times a segment. Points awarded for running better than qualified is going to seperate the good from the great.Comment -

#789Ill probably play again just haven't sighed up yet. Probably will last minute. Guess the format Sounds ok, but not near as good as espn was. But none of them are close to that.
But ur hell most may like it more after we get a segment to get the feel of itComment -

#790Yeah, it's gonna take a little gett'in use to. Espn spoiled us with that fomat. Can't believe those assholes are not gonna return this year, it would have been so easy to run that same game even without a sponsor! Hell, they could have got best buy to sign on I'm sure, they furnish the prizes for every other damn contest on there.Comment -

#794I'll probably just do Rickie's Salary Contest, I don't like the 4-time max rule at FOX, prefer the salary cap style. FOX requires too much strategizing that makes my brain hurt.Comment -

#800I don't like that 4-time max either, makes for too much stategy planning ahead on which 4 tracks you want to use the big guns at, I'd rather just worry about 1 race at a time. I do like the better than qualifying bonus tho, throws an extra twist into it. maybe do bonus points for spots improvedComment -

#801I have not found a easy way to grade Rickies, I do like it tho. So if one of you guys will step up and run it i'll play. I also liked Nascar.com contest because it was a Salary Contest but last time I tried I couldn't even get on the Contest Page to check it out. This should be the week we finalize things, im down for whatever is decided.Comment -

#802I guess its FOX sports contest unless something changes like in the next few days. I think several already have it ready and signed up there. But that's up to u guys I'm sure I'll play whatever.
But ur I agree easy grading is as important imo as anything. Its hard enough as it is with easy contest like we had last few years. Time consuming for CDComment -

#803I reached out to a group I played with at ESPN last couple of years (SCC)about 80 players , they r the ones who emailed me about the lost of ESPN Contest. I asked where they were all going to play at? I'm waiting for a email back from them. Opti found the ESPN Stock Car Challenge for us about 4-5 years ago, its gonna be hard 2 replace.Comment -

So you should decide if you like the nascar.com or Fox game or your friends suggestion better CD.
