Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said Friday that he's had discussions with Grady Sizemore's representatives.

"We have [talked]," Jocketty said. "I’m not sure where that is right now. With the holidays, not much has happened." Sizemore hasn't played since 2011 and is coming off microfracture surgery on his right knee (he previously had microfracture surgery on his left knee). Jocketty said the outfielder "appears to be" healthy, though, and the Reds are considering bringing him in as Billy Hamilton insurance.

I'm not a big Grady fan, but as a Reds fan it can't hurt. They don't have any money to spend on any free agents.

I think that it is a good move. They really are very limited on what they can spend on free agents. So anywhere to save a buck do it

I can see this happening. Its a Reds typical move.

Remember Ron Gant. Reds took a chance on him after his motorcycle accident and he had a great year....

And of course he signed a big contract the next year with the Cards.

I'm sure there's others, but Gant comes to mind first.

he had a really interesting year in the minors the year previous to that for Boston... he struck out 38 in 25 innings and only gave up 15 hits but walked 23, so he totally lost his control
