CBASS 2011-2012 NCAAF Picks

I haven't ever put my picks all on one thread before, so here goes.....
I use what I call a Strength Rating Scale:
2 - low
4 - low-med
6 - med
8 - med-high
10 - HIGH

I welcome all comments (even the negative ones & shit talkers).
The more, the merrier. I do not pretend to know it all and there are some great posters on here who provide a lot of valuable info. I understand the GA pick I mean SEC is a better conference and Boise is bound to lose one of these early big games they play every year.

LSU is kind of a head scratcher. I mean having that as a HIGH pick? I would like to hear the insight behind why you feel so strongly about it. I think if anything the game is a no-play. I could see it going over and then again I could see LSU's D being stout and pitching a shutout and having it being a low scoring game... but taking a big chance on a coin-flip week 1 game is scary IMO

Counting on Vandy to cover anything more than a TD is an extreme risk. I don't think the argument of "It's an SEC team vs a FBS school" applies to Vandy due to just how terrible they are.

I also like the ND pick... although people are VERY VERY high on USF this year... I think this will be a great game.

LSU vs. Oregon: I like LSU, because they know how to win BIG games. Oregon is a good team, don't get me wrong, but they are not proven when it comes to big games out of conference. Also, Oregon's 'speed' is going to be neutralized quite easily by LSU's 'speed'. Then what will Oregon have to lean on? They won't be able to 'power' their way, because LSU's D-Line and O-Line is better than Oregon's. I can see LSU using their recent troubles off the field as a rallying cry as well. Les Miles is an excellent coach when it comes to preparing for big games too. It will be hard fought, but Oregon will be the one who will wear down in the end.

Elon vs. Vandy: Vandy was a bad team last year, no doubt about it. However, their coach had to step down right before the season started and Vandy had to promote one of their coaches who did not want the head coaching position. He accepted only because he did not want Vandy to be in an even worse position. So from the very beginning, they had no continuity. Now they have a head coach who wants to lead Vandy and not dwell on their past misfortune. James Franklin is an offensive minded coach and will provide a small spark to the program in his first year. This is a night game being played in Nashville and that will provide an atmosphere of great fan support. Even though Vandy is an SEC cellar dwellar, they are more than capable of dismantling Elon. This same Vandy team did a great job against LSU in Nashville for a half. My prediction: Vandy 31 Elon 10.

USF vs. ND: Bottomline- I will take any Brian Kelly coached team over a Skip Holtz coached team, anyday.

I am staying away from the Auburn game. They have alot of freshman starting and playing backup roles against utah state. Auburn tends to struggle during early games also, this game kicks off at 11:00 our time here in auburn. I like auburn to win, but if I bet this game I would take ut state and the points.

I like LSU but what odds did you get at -1? they are at +3(-110) right now at 5dimes.

Looks good. Although, I'm going BYU +3 over Mississippi. I don't think Miss is going to be very strong at all and the stormin mormons can air it out on the weak, and inexperienced secondary.

I took W. Michigan +14. Michigan is still a mess of a program. I like Brian Kelly but neither of them are playing. USF is ready to make some noise. And Skip Holtz is underrated.

Yeah, I placed my LSU wager at the worst possible moment (BetUs). However, I am not laying any juice. I saw several books that were juicing LSU even with the spread. I still like it, because I got LSU winning by more than a field goal.

I hear ya. I just don't think BYU is back to its true 'stormin mormon' form yet. However, I do think that Jake Heaps is a beast! You could be right, but I am following one of the strongest trends in college football in this spot: SEC Home Underdog.

We'll see. I just feel like Michigan is going to make a statement in their home opener. Plus, 14 is not a lot to lay with a team who has some offensive weapons who can strike quick.
Good point about the coaches not playing in the USF vs. ND game. I do know one thing though, Brian Kelly is meticulous and will have a great game plan for USF. He will make Lou Holtz turn the T.V. off on his own son's game.

Just wanted to throw this out there.....for those of you playing on Miss. St. this Saturday, doesn't it concern you just a little that the line opened Miss. St. -1? I mean, last week State looked great and Auburn looked rough. So Vegas opens this game at Miss. St. -1??? If you think Auburn is going to look that bad on defense for two weeks straight....LOL. Let me say this...Auburn is seeing themselves as 7 pt. dogs at home to Miss. St. (not LSU, not Oregon, not Oklahoma, but Miss. St!). Needless to say, it wouldn't surprise me if Auburn wins outright.

Are you going to touch the Stanford game at -21? I feel that is a straight forward one... Richmond is an alright team but nothing special and for duke to look as bad as they did, I may be wrong but Stanford will score 35 by half. Please let me know what u think.

Gun to my head, I would play Stanford. I think they are much more physical than Duke. However, Duke is very balanced on offense which will allow them to keep possession longer than expected. This will eat the clock and keep the number of possessions down for Stanford. I still think Duke will turn the ball over once or twice and that will get Stanford the cover. All in all, I think there are better games to choose from IMO.
