    ALABAMA
The localized version of the NFL pro scouting combine will hit Tuscaloosa tomorrow morning. Alabama's Pro Day will still be a big event even though two of the bigger names won't be participating in all of the physical workouts. Julio Jones' broken foot discovered more than a week ago in Indianapolis will keep the wide receiver from trying to match his recorded time in the 40 yard dash of 4.39 seconds. Quarterback Greg McElroy didn't participate in the combine throwing drills because of a broken bone in his hand, and published reports indicate he won't throw Wednesday, either. Projected first round picks Marcell Dareus and Mark Ingram are both healthy and expected to participate. The 40-yard dash and agility drills will start at about 11:30 a.m.

    NEBRASKA
Iowa and Nebraska will meet on the Friday after Thanksgiving in each of the next two seasons. The schools announced Monday they will face each other in Lincoln on November 25 and in Iowa City on November 23, 2012. The Cornhuskers are leaving the Big 12 for the Big Ten. Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne said in a statement that he's pleased the Big Ten has allowed the Huskers to continue their tradition of playing the day after Thanksgiving.

    OHIO STATE
Head coach Jim Tressell is probably in deep do-do. It is reported Tressell was informed that some of his players had sold memorabilia to the owner of a tattoo parlor more than eight months before the school said it was made aware of improper transactions. Reports say Tressell received information as early as April 2010 that players were selling items to Edward Rife, who owns Fine Line Ink Tattoos in Columbus. Ohio State AD Gene Smith has said the local U.S. Attorney's office December 7 alerted the school that some of its players were selling items such as jerseys and championship rings to Rife.

    NORTH CAROLINA
In August 2010, defensive tackle Brandon Willis decided to leave the Tar Heels due to family issues, and ultimately transferred to UCLA. Less than seven months later, Willis has decided to leave the Bruins....take a wild guess where he is rumored to be headed. Yeap, back to North Carolina. As a high school recruit, Willis was rated the #7 defensive tackle in the country.

    MISSOURI
Former Tiger quarterback Chase Daniel (now backup with NO Saints) is establishing the "Chase Daniel Lone Star State Scholarship" for one special little guy on Missouri's roster each year. Daniel said his goal is to help out a kid from the state of Texas each year. Daniel said he just wanted to give back to the University that had help him so much. Good job Chase!

2011 COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME CANDIDATES

Here is a list of the candidates included on the 2011 ballot for possible induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. First time ballot members are indicated with an asterist.

Jim Carlen - West Virginia (1966-69), Texas Tech (1970-74), South Carolina (1975-81); record 107-69-6 (.604)
      Lloyd Carr* - Michigan (1995-2007); record 122-40 (.753)
Fisher DeBerry* - Air Force (1984-2006); record 169-109-1)
      Wayne Hardin - Navy (1959-64), Temple (1970-82); record 118-74-5 (.612)
      Jimmy Johnson* - Oklahoma State (1979-83), Miami (1984-88); record 81-34-3 (.700)
      Bill McCartney - Colorado (1982-94); record 93-55-5 (.624)
Billy Jack Murphy - Memphis State (1958-71); record 91-44-1 (.673)
Darryl Rogers - Cal State (1965), Fresno State (1966-72), San Jose State (1973-75), Michigan State (1976-79), Arizona State (1980-84); record 129-84-7 (.602)
      R.C. Slocum - Texas A&M (1989-02); record 123-47-2 (.721)

Is it just me or does this look like a weak field for the Hall? They should put Darryl Rogers in because he coached at 47 different schools. If I had to pick just one from the list, it would be Billy Jack Murphy from. He was a solid coach for 14 years there at Memphis State. Slocum was a fine coach at Texas A&M long haul.

        NEBRASKA'S MEMORIAL STADIUM
Expansion is expected to start in the next few months on the Cornhusker's Memorial Stadium. An additional 6,000 seats are planned for the 81,000 seat facility. The project, which consist of work in the East side of the stadium, should be completed before the start of the 2013 season.

How Memorial Stadium compares with the on campus "Big Boys" from other schools.

        1. Beaver Stadium, Penn State (107,282)
        2. Michigan Stadium, Michigan (106,201)
        3. Ohio Stadium, Ohio State (102,321)
        4. Bryant-Denny Stadium, Alabama (101,000)
        5. Royal Stadium, Texas (100,119)
        6. Neyland Stadium, Tennessee (100,011)
        7. Sanford Stadium, Georgia (92,741)
        8. Tiger Stadium, LSU (92,400)

Because college football keeps getting more popular every year, we will see more of the top programs increasing seating capacity.

Bad news for Mississippi State. They lose all three starting LB's from last season, and now LB Micheal Hunt, who was listed as their #1 LB on their depth chart, has decided to leave the team. The reason given is that he simply lost his love for the game, and has decided not to play anymore. Head Coach Dan Mullen believes that this is a permanent decision.

Because of a Wednesday night card game tonight, I'll go ahead and post tomorrow's post. With happy hour already started, I tend to get in trouble with the "firewater" on card nights.

              AUBURN
The Tigers will begin spring practice March 16th trying to replace 24 seniors and key juniors Cam Newton, Nick Fairley and Darwin Adams who are all headed to the NFL. Head coach Gene Chizik said there's lots of work to do with so many young players. Evaluating players will be a priority this spring, especially at quarterback.

              INDIANA
The Hoosiers began spring practice on Tuesday as new coach Kevin Wilson and (new) staff try to find some football players. With three year starting quarterback Ben Chappell gone, finding a replacement may have to wait until herald recruit Tre Roberson comes in this fall. None of the other quarterbacks have substantial game experience. The spring game will be on April 16th.

              MISSOURI
Spring practice opened today and continues through the spring game on April 16. Head coach Gary Pinkel say sophomore James Franklin will enter spring ball as the starting quarterback. Finding a dependable replacement at QB is new ground for the Tigers of late. Brad Smith came on as starter in 2002 followed by Chase Daniel and recent starter Blaine Gabbert. These guys were all clear starters for the program and all did a fine job. Now, new territory at the quarterback position.

              MIAMI
New coach Al Golden has opened spring practice and is impressed with the leadership that has carried over from the offseason conditioning program. Teaching fundamentals, ball security and positioning will be a priority during spring drills. Quarterbacks Jacory Harris and Spencer Whipple are both working with the first team offense. Last season, QB was a problem area and somebody needs to step up for the Canes.

              ARIZONA STATE
Many people believe the Sun Devils will be the favorites in the Pac-10 South Division. This will be Dennis Erickson's fifth year in Tempe and he believes this may be one of his best teams. Much of the success of next season will depend on the play of Brock Osweiler at quarterback. Last year, Osweiler had a confidence problem as he battled Steven Tweet for playing time. If Erickson and the Sun Devils are to be a player in the Pac-10 title picture this season, much positive improvement must be made during spring drills.

Key is if you get rid of us before we get rid of many of your sorry asses. We will find owership and they can decide. Lazy days are gone for many Moderators here at SBR.

4 more reasons why college athletes are the dumbest around. Again, we have 4 minority players joining the ever increasing number of minority athletes being arrested. How come so few white athletes get arrested, by comparison? While minority athletes make up the majority of players, their arrest percentage is much higher than that of a white athlete.

Workhorse's problem is that the Mods do not control this Sub Forum. This is suppose to be for College Football, and yet these idiots keep posting their hoops picks in here. The Mods just let it go, or ignore it, depsite numerous request to move those threads to the proper sub-forum. Workhorse has a very legitimate complaint that seems to go ignored.

OK, I'll just state this right out in the open.

I seriously doubt, unless you post in some smaller forum where you've made an agreement with the mods/owners, where you will be able to limit the off-topic posts in any particular thread on most of the forums I know of. But for the widest readership, SBR is among the best.

If the goal is the keep the original excellent material clear of riff-raff, you'll either limit your audience (in a much smaller forum) or you'll have to tolerate the clowns. Another tack is to do something very controllable like yahoo groups with invites, but then you have the job of managing all that.

It would be so much simpler if people could read, and post in the correct sub-forums. At any rate, getting back to football, it appears that Fox will partnet with the Big 12-2 to form a Big 12-2 football network, similar to the Big 10+2 and Pac 12 Networks. Like the Big 10+2 and Pac 12 networks, the Big 12 network will get the 2nd tier games. The "headline" games will still be boradcast by ABC/ESPN, just like the Big 10+2 and Pac 12 games are.

ABC/ESPN will get their pick of the #1 games from every conference except the SEC, which is signed on with CBS. So that gives ABC/ESPN at least 5 games to televise nationally or regionally. They also get the 2nd or 3rd pick from the SEC. After all of that is done, then the Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 12 conference Networks get their pick. After that, there is local Fox and Prime Ticket Networks that get their pick. It is really difficult NOT to get your team on T.V. Last season, even though they were on probation, USC had every game they played televised locally.

In other news, as predicted by myself, it appears that Ohio State Head Coach Jim Tressel is in very deep caca now. He has voluntarily taken a 5 game suspension, just like his players received. It certainly appears as if Tressel and Ohio State are trying everything they can to keep the NCAA out of their business. Thios could be the end for Tressel and could lead to major NCAA penalties leveled against Ohio State.
