#9739Been watching Roger Ver videos. I know this video is dated:
I admit to my knowledge being not good on Bitcoin Cash. But Roger hits on a topic that I've wondered about: *Why is the fee so high on Bitcoin transactions?
If you ever move LTC, you know that LTC cost is <$0.01 and lightning-fast.
...Can't say the same for BTC. Higher cost and not nearly as fast.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#9741Two cycles ago in 2017 BCH was one of my best buys because of Roger Ver. Ver had some heated debates back in 2017. I thought that BCH could be #1. After that run I've pretty much ignored BCH.Comment -

#9743I picked up 3x Jupiter, 1x Solana and 1x Monero last night right before the dip. Can't tell you how many times that has happened. Oh well, here's to hoping it won't matter a few months from now....
-------------------------------------------
I have a "charity" that accepts Monero so I picked some up, Monero being "cheap" right now. It's always good idea to donate a little something to a non-profit of your choice occasionally lest you start feeling like $crooge McDuck... If you do well, it feels good to share the wealth ("sharing" with a certain 3-letter agency doesn't count).Comment -

Yes, Monero is at a good DCA point right now. I expect it to go up steadily - not parabolic - during this bull run. Certain agencies keep pressuring exchanges to delist it (your tax dollars at work!) and it hasn't quite fully recovered yet from the Binance delisting. I believe it will in time. I don't think it will make anyone a gazillionaire but it is nice to have some on hand for when you want to remain totally anonymous. It is on my permanent hodl list.
Altcoin market is close to busting out, IMO. The entire market is being throttled by the Grayscale dump... Probably a few more months to go before things really pick up....Comment -

#9747This might not be the forum but if possible, try to get to the path of totality during the eclipse on Monday. Make a road trip if necessary. I drove to the eclipse in 2017. This one is in my back yard (Texas). Try to make it, it's awesome.

#9749I don't think photos/videos do it justice -you got to see it in person. For example, during totality, photos show a black ball surrounded by a white corona. In person, it's actually a silver corona. It's a monster "WOW".Comment -

#9752Privacy is important in finance. Paying with cash has privacy built-in. Our rulers want to do away with cash and surveil our every move (see CBDC's).

#9753While what you say is true, holding Monero is as bad as holding the US dollar. There are three coins down in the past year that are in the top 50. Monero, ATOM and MATIC. The old coins are not going to perform very well this cycle. The only reason that LTC got a little jump is that the CFTC classified LTC as a commodity. MATIC and ATOM will bounce back some but I have doubts on the current privacy coins.
Again, you're on the side of performance. I like performance and privacy. It's the same ideology as what people thought Bitcoin was going to bring: Freedom, privacy, an alternative to the corrupt and doomed-to-fail system. Unfortunately, BTC wasn't that private.
Youtuber Toby is considering Monero as a good hold during the bear market. There's a bunch of crypto folk that see the value in Monero. It's odd that you don't. You're not working for the man are you? ;-)Comment -

#9754Monero hasn't been performing as of late. It's still getting over the Binance delisting. I wouldn't put it in the same class as the USD, however. I think the USD fails before Monero fails. My bag is still green.

#9755What whale or institution is going to invest in something that is frowned upon by almost every government and the big exchanges? Sure, it has it use but who is going to put any serious money down buying Monero? There will be a couple hiding money but it won't be common place.
I should add RWA (real world assets) to another sector that could take off to go with DePIN and AI.Last edited by raiders72001; 04-04-24, 10:24 PM.Comment -

The big exchanges don't care. They just wanna sell crypto. They are getting pressured to delist (privacy coins). CZ got in trouble and then Binance started "towing the line". Kind of a copout if you ask me. I would have rather have seen them fight it in court than to bend the knee. Sometimes we see exchanges settle, pay their fine and move on. They really went after Binance strongly, however.
That brings us to court cases. The SEC is totally funded by your tax dollars. They'll go after anybody because they got the moolah to do it. Doesn't matter if they win or lose. We pay for it. Do you see how the system is corrupt in this way?
I can only think of a couple of cryptos that have institutional interest. Bitcoin and Ethereum. The rest somehow make it on their own....Comment -

#9758Sure, privacy is a threat to govt.
That's the problem.
Use it, sure. Invest in it? You'd have to be hopeful enough rebels have a few hundred million between them to drive it up..Comment -

I get the philosophical reason to champion Monero, but a big chunk of the users are going to want to keep their privacy and wont be helping it gain word of mouth traction.
Anyway, hopefully you are correct. Just not seeing it personally..Comment -

#9761I agree. It has taken 15 years for BTC to shake off the "only criminals want to use it" stigma and get institutional interest. And that's where the people are coming from to keep it relevant.

Monero has a pretty decent looking chart, BTW. It has been on a steady rise since inception. Not sure it can handle any more friction....
As an aside, I recently sold my BAT bag after about a 6 year hold. I bought $3K worth way back when and sold it for $5K. So, I made $2K, lol. It has always been a top 100 coin but not lately. It has slipped to #180 not because it crashed or the price went bad (still 29¢), but I think mainly because all the new stuff has pushed it down the list...

I have many bags. Too many. XMR is just like 6 or 7% of my holdings. Some bags I am staking to get the passive income coming in. Coins that have staking/passive income are a big plus in my book. Most of the others will be out the door at some point during the bull run. I'm going to give them a chance to do what they can and then sell when the time seems right.
Grinding is not what I do. I can hodl with the best of them, however.Comment -

Although I'll add, the only people grinding are those that are first starting. I do it because I really get into crypto and it's exciting trying to find things that are most profitable. But we all have different goals and different amounts of time that we want to spend looking in to crypto.Last edited by raiders72001; 04-05-24, 11:56 AM.Comment
