Can you really set your own odds at this site? If so why do i see odds similar to other books. If its a true betting exchange you should be able to open a new bet and set better odds for you and who ever matches your bet. Anyone that has used this site please explain how it works and if fairlay is truly a betting exchange.

They seed working as a sportsbook rather than an exchange for the most part.

it's a hybred type exchange since a large part of it is some big market makers that are tied into Pinny BUT YES you can set your own odds on markets and also create markets. If you have questions just ask in Troll box or even click parlay on top menu and ask CS in the APP

That’s interesting. So maybe I’m missing something here. If you can set your own odds and set more favorable odds why not just bet that way? Instead of matching the bet that has terrible odds just create your own bet with better odds.

        For example

Why not open a bet like patriots -7 at -101. It’s a lot better if the bet is already listed at -107.

It’s just like having a bet with your friend. Neither person would charge juice . So in the example above why wouldn’t people just create their own bets on fairlay then. I feel like I’m missing something here.

sharps and arbs who use API would crush you if you did that. It would be matched near instant. The lines and juice at Fairlay are excellent(Pinny) your best off just betting the pinny lines and forget about trying to be a maker.....Now in other things outside sports like horses and other events you may be able to make your odds and that can profitable

Ok but let’s say the standard line on fairlay for this scenario is dolphins -7 at -110 or -110 for +7 on the Bears.

Would a maker be able to create a match of dolphins -7 or Bears +7 at even money? No juice? Therefore both sides odds are better then what standard line is at from fairlay. I know fairlay takes a small percentage at the end of the match but still in that scenario both sides have better odds.

yes you can offer that but it will prob not be matched unless the lines move over that range and its auto gobbled by fairlay. there is very little player to player exchange its not matchbook. your playing against pinny lines at fairlay market maker 99% of the time anyway.

but you can put in the no juice and see what happens .... the software is an exchange system. so somebody seeing it might grab your offer yes..

Thanks for the replies everyone. I guess my point is why wouldn’t someone take the better odds? Why just take the bet with the pinny lines when the other market is better and it’s on the same website. If fairlay really let’s you make your own odds why aren’t people doing this ?

becasue its nearly impossible to make offer wagers their software is beyond terrible but even more improtant nobody is looking around seeing where there is some value, its not worth the time. overall its a time waster.

the volumes on games is just tiny you can sort all games and lines by volume matched and 99.5% of them have 0 volume. just not significant exchange player to player traffic. t

takes time if they change software and keep up cusotmer service it will come along.

My thoughts on Fairlay here; feel free to ask any questions! been using for years.

I dont use fairlay as an exchange because I get matched about 25% of the time. Of those, about 90% is when the odds have moved already.

I do use Degens as an exchange, because i get matched about 50% of the time. Of those, 10% is when the odds have already moved.

EDITED: I do use fairlay as a book; it is a good book, just not great for leaving hanging offers.

what is download metamask mean on that strange DEGENs site? is that how you open an account?
some software goes on your PC or tablet to use it?? how do you sign up and post up a balance?

or is this like that old DIRECT BET site where you never sign up, you place a wager use the blockchain to send crypto to cover the wager and confirm the wager and then as soon as graded its returned?? is that how that DEGEn works? is the blockchain fast enough to send ETH to confirm a wager in a minute or so?? how do y know its confirmed? can you screen shot some examples of how this works

I used to like that DIRECTBET thing was different for sure..

Metamask is an ETH wallet that holds ETH, ERC-20 tokens and a couple more. Metamask can be downloaded. It also comes with Brave Browsers. It's just an easy way to transfer ETH.

I have the extension on Chrome and it opens by clicking a fox icon.

I don't know how Degens works, never played there, but you can cancel ETH transactions with Metamask. The speed of transactions depends on gas paid. If a transaction is stuck you can pay more gas or cancel.

Fees need to be taken into account on an exchange.
