Does anyone know if you can adjust the fees when you send bitcoin through coinbase? These idiots sent out my transaction with a 4 cent fee when there is 13000 unconfirmed transactions. Been waiting 4 hours for a confirmation and no way to use accelerator to speed it up because fee is too low. I would ask their customer service department but apparently they only have 1 employee because it takes 3 months to get an email response.

#2next time, send it to yourself in a different wallet, and then send where you intend to send to with a higher fee, and it will pick up both transactions
blockchain and electrum are 2 wallets you can manually enter the fee
ignore the $ amount of the fee, its all about the sat/byte ratioComment -

He would still need coinbase to use a higher fee to get the bitcoin to his wallet first. Meaning he could still have to wait a long time for his crypto to be confirmed before being able to send from his own wallet.
People should consider using ethereum instead of bitcoin if their book accepts it. You will NEVER wait hours for an ethereum transaction to confirm - usually its within 3 minutes.Comment -

That's not the case. You dont need the btc to be confirmed to send a new transaction in wallets like blockchain and electrum, or any that im aware of, other than exchangesComment -

#5If the initial transaction is not confirmed on the blockchain then sending unconfirmed from you wallet will produce another unconfirmed transaction.Originally posted by DroopyDogThat's not the case. The problem is confirmations, not transactions.Comment -

#6No it wont. The idea is to use a fee high enough to cover both sends with your second transaction, as soon as you see the first one on the blockchain, even before it's confirmed.Originally posted by iconIf the initial transaction is not confirmed on the blockchain then sending unconfirmed from you wallet will produce another unconfirmed transaction.

If you do this a miner will pick up both as they need to confirm the earlier one to be paid for the later one.
Anyway, what Droopy said is 100% correct..Comment -

#7Yes, my bad, brain cramp. I was thinking you needed some bitcoin in your ethereum wallet before you could use the child pays for parent technique for getting confirmation quicker.

#8All right thanks for the answers but I'm going to bitch again. Why won't coinbase just let you adjust your fees? It's my money not theirs. They did it again today and I had to wait 2 hours for a confirmation. Only reason I use coinbase is because none of the other exchanges will let me join for some reason. Even with all my documents.Comment -

#9It really doesn't matter what coinbase does regarding fees. Once the transaction has been broadcast to the blockchain by coinbase you can use electrum to send to another address using a high fee and then it will be quickly confirmed.Originally posted by themike78All right thanks for the answers but I'm going to bitch again. But if you do it as Droopy suggested, it is hardly any extra time or effort, and you will have full control and will always be able to make sure your transfer is in the next block..Comment
