Interesting... haven't logged on in 3 weeks.

There's a warning label in RED at the top of the screen... it says

Before you are able to complete this buy, you must provide additional information at www.coinbase.com/ssn

You go to that link.... and this is what it looks like....

They are really cracking down fellas. Unreal.

My Instant Limit is still 3K but must fill this out in order to use it. Won't be doing that.

That information isn't a big deal, if they took it a step further and starting asking for proof of use then I'd tell them to F themselves.

It could be a big deal. Clearly this information would be sent to the IRS.

It is the most unusual question ever asked....

"As a regulated financial institution we have the responsibility of understanding how our customers use our service, as well as their source of funds."

Many things wrong with this... They charge a sh#$load on the fees. BS if they really care what we do with it. Or how we were able to acquire the funds to purchase Bitcoin.

Does our regular bank ask us where our paycheck came from on a deposit?

Again... the less frequent you buy/sell from coinbase... the better off you are.

Source of funds: Occupation (from the pull down) That's it for now and all they would be getting. A regular bank wouldn't need to ask, it's on the check.

I agree, the less I deal with them the better and I will avoid as much as I can. I manage my withdrawals better and re-invest into books with that money now, some goes to other books, some goes to the bitpay card so I don't have to use coinbase.

International books ask this of players sometimes too.

Imagine your bookmaker saying give me a copy of your bank statement to show us where you earn your money from?

It's a genuine part of AML and KYC regs to know the source of funds. It's ridiculous, but not Coinbase's fault. Financial regulation does stuff like this.

Anyway, Coinbase are only asking to cover their own ass so they have on record the answers you have given if ever accused of aiding any 'crime' you may commit by not following KYC rules strictly enough.

Just fill in the form. It isn't designed to pass on info about you to anyone. Just to show they have asked the questions of you. They don't even want proof.

Mine was taken away at least a month ago, I had to add a credit card and build up my instant amount again, wasn't happy.
