Yes, Oakland was the favorite and yes, the A's own the White Sox.

IMG, i don't bet any more during the baseball season that i bet during any other season. if anything at all, i do bet a little less during baseball season because there is less sporting events to bet on.

imgv, I had a lot of success betting bases last season (the only problem was I was only playing for a dollar- george washington per game). I had success parlaying heavy favorites on the moneyline. go to audiovegas.com click on baseball handicapping and listen to what andy iskoe has to say about betting baseball. it's a great lesson.

i don't do either of those things mentioned above IMG.

last year i bet on 1 game that was a -150 favorite. (whitesox vs A's) and that game was a 10 unit play for me. infact, i remember onlooker pounded that game out there in vegas to the point that line actually moved 10 cents, and then he pounded it after the line move again at the new price, because the value was still there. i remember the sportsbook manager did not want to accept his bet on it again, but he finaly did after getting approvel from upstairs.

btw, he bet this game on the runline +150, then again at +140

I would like to see those figures but let me say that I have a bud that will take runs (+1.5) and he swears by it. I always lay the -1.5 which may be why I don't win with RL's with any consistancy.

It's a proven fact that books lose on rl's and alt rl's. I will have to dig up that old thread. If someone finds it before me, please post it.

I have not have much success with RL's and will play them sparingly this season. I think RL's are sucker bets the Makers have to get players to but on prohibitive favorites. I would rather parlay the big favorite rather than play the RL if I really want action on the game. Later in the season trends develope where some teams just spank a particular team or pitcher and that is the best time to play RLs if at all.

Probably about 95% of my bets are ML in Bases. Normal RL's are -1.5. Pinny also offers Alternate RL's, were the dog will have the favored RL (-1.5), but will have a bigger comeback then the ML.

All sides are moneylines, but you can use pinny's drop down bar to adjust the line from -0.5 to -2.5 and of course +0.5 to +2.5

If you really like the doggies pinny offers reverse runlines at -1.5 with huge + money. If played right you can make a fortune.

Runlines were cashing great for me the last few weeks of the season with the teams that were making their playoff runs. Like with Philly, they were cashing me RL's very nicely. I usually stop Bases right after the Allstar break, but seen the RL's were cashing at a good rate for the playoff contenders the last few weeks of the regular season.

April cant get here soon enough, I love betting baseball. Not only for the money, but for the game.

Oh forgot to tell you guys that I played golf with a Cincinnati Reds talent scout yesterday. He covers the mid-west. Very cool talking baseball with an insider. It got me all fired up for bases which is what brought me to this thread.

Hey IMG. I love bases and to me it's the easiest sport to win money. Bases is the only sport where I parlay. That's what I do with the -150 and above. I might parlay at -185 with a
-125 let's say which I am also going to be covering. There is also money to be made betting the first 5 innings on a team with a bad bull pen. On some teams the starting pitchers pitch their asses off only to have the bullpen blow the game and that can happen night in and night out. Another phenomenon to look for is that some teams give some pitchers runs support up the ass and for some pitchers they can't scratch out a run to save their lives. I totally agree with betting against the glamor teams. I don't know what the figures are but I would guess that if you bet against the Yankees on the blind last year a guy would have made a ton of money.

Got to love the 5c lines at 5dimes overnight, although they cap it at a nickel limit.

umps are very key on certain pitchers IMO

i believe it was randasio that has a 16-1 stat when randy johnson starts a game.

In the first games of series, you have to wait 30-45 minutes before the first pitch to find out who is BHP. If you have a familiarity with the umps, which ones have a larger/smaller strikezone, which ones favor the high strike, which ones give the corners, which ones have trouble calling breaking stuff, etc., it's a huge advantage when considering how that starting pitcher will fare that night. Also, track game logs from previous days, sift through local material to see if you can get a grasp on who the manager may try to utilize out of his bullpen and how those particular individuals match up with the umpire's tendacies.

If you like trends, there are a number of known ones out there such as when you got two LHP's starting, it usually works toward the under, etc.
