Good morning,

FYI: Yesterday, although the Reliever Plays were 0-3, if one would have played the second half before the game started, they would have went 2-1. Today there is a situation (game) where I have the xFIP as an under for the first 5 innings, but the Reliever Play would be an over. That game is NYY/WS. (under 6 first 5 and over 4 the second half). I am not posting either, but it will be interesting to see what happens.

The Reliever Play for Thursday:

Mil/Cin over 10 (second half is 3.5 runs for those interested)
Min/Bost over 10 (second half is 3.5 runs for those interested)

VMI Play:

Houston

xFIP:

StL/AZ under 5.5
Cubs.Wash under 5
Mets/Mia over 5

VMI is going on a 7-0 run if I'm not mistaken while xFIP are going on a 12-9 run in the same timespan.

So the VMI and xFIP are hitting at a rate of 60.7 % so far, will you consider playing them as official plays or how many picks do you usually track before you think an angle is worth playing etc. thanks for your work! BOL

I personally want to evaluate these at the All Star break, but for now any followers can use them to bounce their own handicapping off of.

Just to review once again, VMI plays are based on the Visual Memory Index. (Google it for an explanation) and the xFIP plays are based on the expected Fielding Independent Pitching. We are posting these for tracking purposes.

First of all, I want to begin with the fact that I never have been good at picking sides in baseball.

That said, I have had some time to work the xFIP for predicting first five innings totals and I noticed a correlation to picking sides using xFIP.

Here are the first five innings xFIP side plays. Some are favorites some are dogs. I DO NOT recommend playing them but let's all watch and see how they do together.

There were 6 plays, however, all but one had a line too high, in my opinion, to play. The only one with any value was:

SD

The others, which will not go toward the tracking record were Was, Col, Sea, Mil, and Hous. Personally, I feel that is too many at such a high price(s) to play.
