Also, the Phillies' overall winning percentage is close enough to .645 to qualify it as *almost* applicable.
I hate Moyer. I think the guy sucks. But Milton has been pitching way over his head and is due to get knocked around like he deserves, Kuroda is making only his second start after being out for two months, and I've never really thought much of Wolf. The Phillies' other two starters, Blanton and Bastardo, don't really inspire me either, but this series is too unpredictable for me to bet a significant amount.
Ironically, I felt very confident in Hamels tonight, and I had an offer on him at matchbook, but my offer expired before it got matched as the game started. I should have just taken -102 odds instead of being greedy by asking for even money. I'd be $5 richer right now.

I knew at least one of these games would win in this series. If you look at the historical records for the longest philly winning streak, it never went beyond 8 games. Many of them end up at 7 wins streak. So with handicapping analysis + system, it will give you a good idea if you should play this series out or not.Comment -

What do you guys think of the Marlins series? The only filter that I'm concerned about is J. Miller's ERA is just under the threshold at 4.76, then Nolasco's is over 9 and he pitches against Lincecum tomorrow, and neither team has their starters announced for Monday. I'm not a big Sanchez fan. I don't fade him in every start, but I usually at least consider it, so I think the Marlins are a very good play today. If they lose today though, I'm not sure chasing would be such a great idea. I don't see Lincecum losing back to back games to Washington and Miami. Betting against Lincecum will give great odds, but it doesn't really matter unless we win. And then who knows what the hell is going to happen on Monday. I think I may just bet this as a single game for like 3/10 of a unit.
Cardinals are a play for sure... no way Colorado is sweeping them four straight. They pass every filter.
Also, Padres are in kind of a similar situation as Miami. Correia and Geer both have ERAs over 5, and Monday's starter, Peavy, is an uncertainty with his throat infection or whatever it is. Plus, Haren pitches against them tomorrow, so the odds should be good, but again, that only helps if we win. San Diego is much better at home than on the road, but Arizona is much better on the road than they are at home.

I think that if this is a system, you shouldnt handicap it and just play whatever falls into the criteria for a play...which is all 3 of those games. Just my opinion.Comment -
That's my whole point. The ERA filter can't be effectively passed or failed because we don't know who is pitching the final game. I guess in the case of the Marlins, it would pass because the filter only requires one of the three announced starters to have an ERA under 4.80, but in the case of the Padres, if Peavy can't pitch, their other starters today and tomorrow both have an ERA over 5.Comment -

Heh I had the SD yesterday because I just found out by looking at the schedule at the last minute before game starts. Also, It was Game 4 for another guy's system.. So I am pretty confident with the pick.

F*&king Cards! Yes you would start your BC Chase in the 2nd game of a 4 game set. I started on Friday because I was going by G's chase of StL, Det and Tor. Det and Tor went nice and quick but now I"m in a world of hurt with StL. I'm pot commited as they say. I am just in shock at how Col is keeping StL down like this on the road.

Remember the Cards were involved in both of the unfiltered losses in my system last year. They got swept and then swept on the road within a 10-day span. ****ers.
