Heavyweight destroyer Francis Ngannou looks to turn heads once again when he returns to the cage for a tune-up fight against fellow UFC veteran Philipe Lins in the co-main event of MVP’s showcase event. The action at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., is set for May 16 and will stream on Netflix.

Fans are in for a real treat as this one promises to deliver a spectacular finish one way or another, and we now take a deeper look at the festivities in my official Ngannou vs. Lins predictions and betting preview.

Prelims begin at 5:30 p.m. ET, followed by the main card at 8 p.m. ET. Current betting lines favour Ngannou as a massive -1200 favourite to win the fight.

🔮 Francis Ngannou vs. Philipe Lins preview: What to know

Thirty-nine-year-old Ngannou will compete in MMA for just the second time in over four years, having last seen action inside the cage in October 2024 when he crushed 6-foot-8 literal giant Renan Ferreira with a first-round knockout.

Tasked with solving the volatile puzzle is big show veteran Philipe Lins, who has not competed in any combat sport since being released from his UFC contract following a lackluster decision win over Ion Cutelaba two years ago.

This fight doesn’t make a whole lot of sense as reflected in the -1200 moneyline price on Ngannou, but MVP knows he’s a big draw still and would love to reintroduce the former UFC kingpin back to the masses by shaking off some of the ring rust and having him create another classic highlight finish. The fight will serve as the night’s co-main event and will be available to stream live worldwide on Netflix.

Francis Ngannou moneyline (-1200) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This appears to be a pretty one-sided fight in favour of the Cameroonian big man. Lins isn’t completely hapless, but he’s got virtually nothing going for him on paper. He’s been off for two years since being released from the UFC for being too boring, is a natural light-heavyweight, and is actually one year older than Ngannou.

Lins’ only path to victory is a lucky puncher's chance, and he just so happens to be taking on the biggest power puncher of them all. Good luck, Philipe! Back Ngannou by knockout once a price becomes available, or parlay his moneyline and enjoy the show for as long as it lasts.
