The final two quarterfinal matches will be played today, and my best World Cup predictions for Saturday anticipate a lot of goals. This shouldn't come as a surprise, considering three of the top four goalscorers at this year's event will take the pitch today.

My World Cup best bets explain how Erling Haaland and Norway can get the better of England, while also highlighting why Argentina and Switzerland are in for an offensive-focused game.

💰 Best World Cup prediction today

Over 2.5 goals (+120) Argentina vs. Switzerland

Talk about a massive overreaction to Switzerland's 0-0 tie against Colombia. Switzerland has scored multiple goals in three of five matches and finished with 3.2 expected goals against Qatar, despite scoring just once. The Swiss will be without Johan Manzambi in this match, but they have enough quality players to best a struggling Argentinian defense.

Argentina's defense has been a problem, allowing multiple goals in back-to-back contests. However, the Argentinian offense has been outstanding. Led by Lionel Messi, Argentina has scored three times in four of its five World Cup matches.

💵 SBR Edge: Offensive numbers tell the story

Switzerland is averaging 1.8 goals and 2.35 expected goals per game. Meanwhile, Argentina is averaging 2.8 goals and 2.16 expected goals. Even with both teams conceding an average of one or fewer goals per game, the offenses make this an obvious three-unit play for me.

Erling Haaland anytime goalscorer (+120) vs. England

If you checked out my Norway vs. England prediction, then you know I have high expectations for Norway in this match. And the Norwegians' success starts with Haaland.

Haaland has scored seven goals at this World Cup. He's yet to go scoreless in a single match at this tournament, scoring twice in three of his games. Haaland has recorded at least 1.17 expected goals in two of his four matches, and he's yet to net fewer than 0.47 expected goals. That performance came in a two-goal showing against Brazil.

While England has two shutouts, this is a defense that has allowed two goals in two matches. With Jarell Quansah serving a suspension for a red card, I expect Norway to have more chances than originally expected. And when the ball is around the net, Haaland usually is, too.

Norway to advance (+176) vs. England

Despite Norway defeating Brazil, oddsmakers still have England pretty heavily favored to advance to the semifinals. But for as much heart as England showed against Mexico, the Mexicans dominated the majority of that game, even before England was forced to play with 10 men.

Meanwhile, Norway's defense made a statement against Brazil. While the Brazilians finished with 2.61 expected goals, they didn't score until a questionable penalty 10 minutes into stoppage time, as most of their chances came from counterattacks. This won't be a worry for Norway, as England enters with 57% possession.

I'm also very concerned about England's offensive inconsistencies. The English didn't do much aside from a two-minute spurt against Mexico, and it took 75 minutes to break down Congo's defense. I expect this to be an offensive battle, which gives the advantage to Norway.
