Belgium, Spain, and Germany return to action in the group stage of the World Cup. Who will take another step towards the Round of 16? Here are our World Cup bets bets.

There are many storylines to choose from on Sunday, the eighth day of drama at the 2022 World Cup. Germany could be on their way home if they don’t deliver against Spain, one of the best teams in Qatar so far. Germany-Spain has all the ingredients to be epic, considering the value of the two teams and the special context of the game.

Belgium will need to up their style after a mediocre outing against Canada, while 2018 finalists Croatia will also need to do more than they were capable of against Morocco to get their first three points in Group F.

Here are our best bets ahead of Sunday’s World Cup matches (odds via DraftKings SportsbookFanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

World Cup Top Picks for Sunday

Moneyline: Croatia (+105) ★★★★

Croatia switched to “economy mode” for their 2022 World Cup debut against Morocco. The 0-0 draw on their first day at the World Cup didn’t mess things up for the 2018 finalists, but they’ll need goals and points if they are to qualify from Group F.

Even though Canada showed the world they are no pushovers, playing better than Belgium for large parts of their inaugural match, Croatia is likely to be a different story. Luka Modric and his colleagues know they are not in a similar moment as they were four years ago. Still, they form a team that knows how to adapt to the opponent, get weaknesses on the table, and punish errors.

Spread: Japan -1 (+135) ★★★

Japan will look to consolidate the victory over Germany from the first round and get another three points against Costa Rica to make sure they make it into the last 16. A two-goal victory looks highly probable at this point considering what both teams showed in their first matches at the Qatar World Cup and also the objectives they’re playing to reach.

Total: Spain-Germany Over 3.5 (+190) ★★★

There are chances that this will be one of the best matches at this year’s World Cup. Two attacking teams full of skilled players that will surely take everything at each other are always pleasant to watch. Spain scored seven against Costa Rica and were enchanting for large parts of the match.

Germany are forced to look for goals. Manager Hansi Flick knows that one won’t be enough, given the high probability of Spain scoring as well. DraftKings offers Over 3.5 goals at +190 but if you feel this could go down to history for more, you can consider Over 4.5 at +425 or even Over 5.5 at +950.

Upset: Spain (+135) ★★★

Germany were in control for large parts of the game versus Japan, but ended up losing 2-1. If they don’t win on Sunday against Spain, their chances to reach the Round of 16 become hypothetical.

Germany were unconvincing on the road leading to the World Cup, so their loss to Japan is not entirely surprising. Given Spain’s force and the pressure Germany are under, another loss must really be considered among Sunday’s betting options.

Prop: Olmo to score or assist (+125) ★★★

Dani Olmo showed great form against Costa Rica, as he was involved in most of the Spanish attacks. Given his ability to finish actions but also create them and set up his colleagues, Olmo is the perfect choice to either score or assist versus Germany.

Olmo netted Spain’s first against Costa Rica and assisted Morata for their team’s seventh and last one in the second minute of added time. Olmo is intense and has great adaptability during matches, being able to deliver anytime during the match. A bet on Olmo scoring is at +250 with DraftKings.

Parlay: Over 2.5 goals + Over 9 corners in Spain-Germany (+254)

There will be much offensive action at both ends, so it’s the perfect setting for goals and drama in the box. Both Spain and Germany are strong on the wings and they will look to profit from the skillful players they have at their disposal. Many balls will reach the box, so there are high chances for a high number of corners, attempts, shots on target, and, ultimately, goals.
