Premier League Predictions & Odds: EPL Best Bets, Expert Picks for Matchweek 3

This weekend's soccer picks are headlined by my Premier League predictions and odds, which highlight three favorites I expect will take all three points on Matchweek 3. 

I'm about as confident in the below four-star featured picks as Erling Haaland is when he's through on goal. With that, let's get stuck in.

Here are my Premier League predictions for Matchweek 3. Odds are live and updated in real time.

Pep Guardiola was outwitted by Frank in Man City's loss to Tottenham last week, their fourth home defeat since the start of last season. That loss negatively impact their Premier League odds. 

That oddity rarely occurs in successive weeks.  

While Brighton lost just three matches at American Express Stadium last season, they started their home account with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Fulham. They followed that result with a poor display at Everton, losing 2-0. 

City lost 2-1 at Brighton last season, but Pep's side were decimated by defensive injuries, forced to start 19-year-old Jahmai Simpson-Pusey at center-back.

The Seagulls won't be so fortunate this time around, having to face two senior central defenders, including Ruben Dias. 

It won't be easy without Rodri in the starting 11, but with Brighton's confidence sagging, I'm backing the Cityzens to escape with three points. Of our best sports betting sites, DraftKings offers the best value. At -130, FanDuel and BetMGM offer the least value.

It's not the start Unai Emery envisioned, with Aston Villa amassing just one point from two matches. The Villains managed a 0-0 stalemate against Newcastle in their only home match, which isn't the worst result considering the Magpies' recent Premier League ascent. 

Emery will be particularly salty about Villa's 1-0 away loss to Brentford last week. That result, though, should awaken an Aston Villa side that has repeatedly pressed snooze through the opening two weeks.

They were the Premier League's fourth-best home team last season, winning 11 of 19 matches. The home side is also due for a win against Palace after failing to take three points in the last five meetings in all competitions.

Palace had a midweek European match to contend with, and while manager Oliver Glasner rotated as best he could, the London side has about as much depth as a kiddie's splash pool.

Thomas Frank's management style is as nimble as an Olympic gymnast, starkly contrasting his predecessor's uncompromising rigidity. Spurs' boss has steered his new side to two successive victories, employing various strategies and formations already. 

Previous versions of Tottenham had a ghastly knack for playing down to the level of inferior opponents. I don't see that same unenviable tendency perpetuating under Frank's watchful eye, at least not in the embryonic stage of his tenure. 

Spurs outscored Man City and Burnley 5-0 in their first two matches, securing a 3-0 win over the latter in their only home match thus far. 

Whether Spurs can maintain this elite level is a question I won't touch with a 10-foot barge pole. However, they're feeling it early under their new manager, galvanized, confident, while being set up for success by a strategic mastermind.

Meanwhile, in somewhat telegraphed results, Bournemouth took care of business at home against Wolves but lost to Liverpool at Anfield.
