Look, we only have five games under the belt for Club America, but woah, the underlying stats are tilted both heavily in their favor.
America has scored three goals in both Leagues Cup games so far, averaging eight shots on target. That's more than domestically, but even in Mexico, they've rattled an average of 6.33 SOT through three games off an average of 18 shots.
Austin has done admirably, with two clean sheets and five goals to start the tournament, but through 18 MLS games, things have been bleak. With 1.22 goals per game (3rd worst) and 0.98 xG per game (2nd worst) off 10.67 shots per game (2nd worst) and 4.00 SOT per game (2nd worst), perhaps the sudden offensive outburst has been an anomaly. And the defensive numbers in domestic play, not that much better.
Only thing going for Austin tonight is that ~need~ the result more. That's not gonna do it for me, but it's going to keep me away from making it more than a half-unit play....just in case.

While CF America doesn't actually need the result tonight, I think the combination of their attacking profile and the Austin defensive profile combine for a great way to attack this game.
America has totaled 2.33 big chances and 28.67 box touches per game in domestic play, meaning they should get plenty of opportunities tonight. And there's no reason to think that the Austin xGA of 2.09 and 6.78 SOT/allowed in MLS can continue to clip along like it has to start the tournament.

Isaias Violante, AM, Club America (+250)
Violante is presenting plenty of value here, scoring in each of the tournament games so far, and more importantly, his role in the offense has seemed solid through all five America games to date this season.
The attacking midfielder has taken at least three shots in each of his squad's games this year, and four in three of them. He's also been on target in each of the five. Such an established attacking role should continue tonight, even if he has a shortened game, and I like the price here.

Five goals in two league games might have some confused, but I know who this Austin team is and I just don't see it continuing. America has played staunch defense, giving up just one goal in three domestic games and conceding just once in both Leagues Cup games.
I'm thinking Austin's strong offense run comes to an end tonight against a squad that has allowed just four shots on target per game in the Leagues Cup and domestically.
