It should come as little surprise that MacKinnon has been the most dangerous player in the series. His 4.6 expected goals are nearly double the amount of any other player, as are his 31 shots on target.

After becoming the NHL’s first 30-goal defenseman in 16 years, Makar has yet to find the net in the playoffs. The perennial Norris Trophy candidate called himself out for it after Game 5, telling reporters that “I’ve got to be a lot better.”

We can’t just bank on sheer desire, but Makar’s metrics also support the drought ending soon. He leads the Avs with 48 shot attempts in the series, and his Corsi rating in the playoffs is exactly the same as what it was in the regular season.
