After winning Thursday night against the Buffalo Sabres, the Winnipeg Jets travel to Pittsburgh on Friday to face Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. With the Penguins having been off since Tuesday, they will have a major rest advantage over the Jets.

The main influence on these betting lines, however, is the status of Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Is it possible for the Jets to pick up another road victory on Friday and tie the Dallas Stars for first place in the Central Division? Let's find out!

Jets vs. Penguins Odds Analysis

The Penguins opened as -188 favorites on FanDuel, but the moneyline has fluctuated significantly since then. This number fell to -166 early on Friday morning, but has since been bet back up to -184.

FanDuel's total has seen similar movements to the moneyline, opening at 6.5 with the Over priced at -114. We saw the Under juiced at -114 early in the morning, but the Over has once again established itself as the favorite at -118.

I believe that much of this line movement is due to the market trying to figure out whether Hellebuyck or David Rittich will tend the twine for the Jets.

Jets-Penguins Under 6.5 (-104 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dustin Tokarski was announced as the Penguins' starting goalie while I was writing this pick, which positively impacted our numbers for this matchup between the Jets and Penguins. The projections favor Tokarski over Casey DeSmith, yet the Under has moved from -106 to -104.

I was ready to buy the -106 when DeSmith was the expected starter for the Penguins, since the projections suggested the Under should trade at -122. Now that Tokarski is in net, the Under should be priced at -143, but FanDuel has moved it to -104.

Tokarski in net increased the value of our wager significantly (from 7% +EV to 16% +EV) since the market has not yet adjusted properly. As I'm confident that the market will correct itself throughout the day, I would buy this quickly.

You also have an advantage here since we have priced this based on the assumption that Rittich will be the Jets' starting goalie. Since we already have it priced as if the backup goalie will play, you only stand to gain additional value from this bet when the Jets confirm their goalie. You may be fortunate if you purchase it early and Hellebuyck is named the starting goalie.

Considering that this bet has a positive expected value of 16%, I rate it a four out of five stars on the SBR confidence scale.

The best odds here are fairly straightforward because all of the major sportsbooks trade the total at 6.5 and FanDuel has the lowest juice at -104. The Over is seeing increased juice, but I don't see this total moving to 7.

The total should remain at 6.5, so it'll be easy to identify the best line throughout the day. If one sportsbook changes the total to 7, this immediately becomes your most favorable line, even if the Under is trading at -120.
