Thursday’s NHL player props

Evan Bouchard to record a point (-140 via DraftKings)  ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard has been one of my favorite players to bet on this season — and late last season into the playoffs. Bouchard has 21 points in 21 games this season and has been held off the scoresheet just five times.

Bouchard quarterbacks the Oilers’ top power-play unit with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and company. He is riding a seven-game point streak with nine points in that span.

The oddsmakers expect a lot of goals between Edmonton and Winnipeg, with the Over 6.5 at -125. The Oilers team total Over 3.5 is priced at -105.

As long as his odds to record a point remain this low, back Bouchard. We’re getting five cents of value at DraftKings with BetMGM having the line at -145.

Gustav Nyquist to record a point (-115 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Predators have been running hot recently, and so has Gustav Nyquist. The Goose has been loose in Nashville.

Nyquist is on a nine-game point streak with 11 points since November 9th. He’s done most of that damage at home, and that’s good news for the Preds as they host the Wild tonight.

The offseason addition of Nyquist is proving to be a good one alongside Ryan O’Reilly on the top line. Those two have meshed well with established star Filip Forsberg in Nashville.

Thursday’s NHL game picks

Panthers -1.5 vs. Canadiens (+114 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

While the Canadiens have the home-ice advantage in Montreal, the Panthers have the rest advantage. The Cats were waiting for the Habs in Montreal as the Canadiens beat the Blue Jackets 4-2 in Columbus last night.

The Panthers (1-1-2 in their last four) and Canadiens (3-1-0 in their last four) are trending opposite ways recently, but it’s important to look at the context.

The Habs beat three of the worst teams in the league: the Ducks, Sharks (shootout), and Blue Jackets. Meanwhile, the Panthers fell to the Bruins, Jets, and Maple Leafs (shootout) while getting a commanding 5-0 win in Ottawa.

Montreal has lost five straight games when playing on no days rest and is 3-13 in its last 16 home games following a road trip of at least seven games. The Panthers should be able to have their way with the Habs tonight, so make sure to use our DraftKings promo code to get the best price.

Predators ML vs. Wild (-122 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

We’re already backing Nyquist to stay hot, so why not take the Predators as well?

Nashville has quietly put up the 10th-best xGF% at 5-on-5 this season at 52.23%, while Minnesota sits in the middle of the pack at 50.99%. The Predators also have a massive advantage in goal, with Juuse Saros (8-9-0, 2.99 GAA, .900 SV%) projected to face off against Marc-Andre Fleury (3-4-2, 3.46 GAA, .875 SV%).

The Wild did bounce back with a win over the Blues after firing their coach, but that game was in Minnesota, and St. Louis isn’t a great squad. Minnesota is just 2-6-2 on the road, while Nashville is 8-4-0 at Bridgestone Arena.

The Predators have a better record, better underlying numbers, a better goalie, better home/road splits, and are just -122 favorites? I’m all over that tonight.
