Chicago Blackhawks star Connor Bedard is running away as the 2023-24 Calder Trophy odds favorite, according to the latest NHL odds, despite missing 14 games due to injury.

Bedard winning the 2024 Calder Trophy represents the closest thing to a guarantee in futures sports betting. Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber is second in scoring among rookies and is the only competitor with a chance of upsetting the Chicago Blackhawks' No. 1 draft pick.

The disparity between Bedard and the field is so vast that bet365 only offers Bedard (-2500) vs. the field (+1100) odds, and DraftKings only offers Bedard (-2500) and Faber (+1200) odds.

Faber has enjoyed a superb rookie season and deserves a modicum of consideration. The 21-year-old from Maple Grove, Min., has 38 points in 66 games, leading all Wild defensemen by a considerable margin.

Unfortunately, he's up against a generational talent in Bedard, who is on the verge of being named the 2023-24 Calder Trophy winner.

Seeing our best NHL betting sites start pulling the Calder Trophy market wouldn't be surprising.

Calder Trophy betting analysis

It's rare to see our best sports betting apps have such a heavy line on a player who missed over a month of action, but Bedard has been just that much better than all other rookie skaters.
