Thursday’s NHL prop picks

Anthony Cirelli to record a point vs. Avalanche (+100 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

The Tampa Bay Lightning have slowly seen their depth decline in recent years, but Cirelli remains a key figure for this group. The 26-year-old center has been a constant for the Bolts and has 29 points in 53 games this season.

Cirelli had a rough patch from the middle of December to the middle of January with just two points in 15 games, but he’s been on fire since with 12 points in his last 10 contests. In fact, he’s recorded a point in three straight games, six of his last seven, and eight of his last 10 overall.

The Avalanche have been a bit shaky defensively as of late with 17 goals allowed in their last four contests. Expect Cirelli and the Bolts to take advantage tonight.

Matt Duchene to record a point vs. Predators (-140 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Duchene has been everything the Dallas Stars expected and then some in his first year with the club. He signed in Dallas after being bought out by the Nashville Predators in the offseason and has a chance for some sweet revenge tonight.

Duchene already has 50 points in 52 games this year, nearly matching last year’s total of 56 points in 71 games. This will be his fourth and final meeting against his former team this season, and he’s picked up points in each of the past two matchups.

The veteran forward has been as consistent as they come for the Stars. He has 21 points in his last 19 games and was held off the scoresheet in just four of those contests.

Thursday’s NHL game picks

Panthers vs. Sabres Under 6.5 (-120 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Florida Panthers were known for their high-flying style of play a few years ago, but they’re now one of the most profitable Under teams in the league at 33-19-1. They have a league-best 2.25 xGA/60 at 5-on-5 play, per Natural Stat Trick.

The Buffalo Sabres have also trended to the Under this season at 28-21-3. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is expected to get the start in net tonight. His overall numbers (13-13-2, 2.51 GAA, .913 SV%) are respectable, but he’s even better recently at 7-5-0 with just 19 goals against and a .941 SV% since Dec. 30.

This is the second half of a back-to-back set for Florida, so it’ll be backup Anthony Stolarz in net. He’s been fine, though, at 8-5-2 with a 2.11 GAA and .917 SV% this year.

This total should be at most a flat six, not a 6.5. Take advantage of that with the Under 6.5 at -120 tonight.

Flyers ML vs. Maple Leafs (+136 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

The Flyers are once again heating up with a four-game winning streak coming out of the All-Star break.

They’ve taken down the Panthers, Jets, Kraken, and Coyotes, and now hit the road before the Stadium Series game this weekend. Philadelphia has the eighth-best xGF% (53.88%) over the past 10 games with Toronto sitting in the middle of the pack.

The Maple Leafs also have an illness going through their locker room. William Nylander, John Tavares, and Mitch Marner are all questionable after missing practice on Wednesday, and, of course, the Leafs are without top defenseman Morgan Reilly due to a five-game suspension. They’re missing Calle Jarnkrok and Connor Timmins as well.

This line has already dropped quite a bit, but it still isn’t enough. The Flyers are hot, had two days off, and should be ready to go in Toronto tonight.
