Even in a victory, Broncos fans are devastated after learning that Bo Nix will be out for the remainder of the season with a fractured ankle, head coach Sean Payton announced following the game. He will undergo surgery
But when did Nix get his season-ending ankle injury? Payton says it happened during the second-last play of the game - a kneel down to get kicker Will Lutz a better look at his eventual 23-yard game-winning field goal. He was seen limping off the field prior to the kick:
With Nix out, the Broncos will turn to Jarrett Stidham to try and complete their run to the Super Bowl.
Broncos' Super Bowl odds plummet despite win over Bills
The Broncos have the longest Super Bowl odds (+1200) despite earning their way to the AFC Championship Game after defeating the Buffalo Bills 33-30 in overtime. Are they worth a long shot bet? I'd remain patient here, as Stidham will likely be in tough against either the Houston Texans or New England Patriots next week.
Who is Jarrett Stidham?
Jarrett Stidham was drafted in the fourth round (133rd overall) by the New England Patriots in 2019 after playing college football at Baylor and Auburn.
Stidham has appeared in 19 regular-season games with four starts for the Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, and Broncos, completing 117 of 197 passes (59.4%) for 1,422 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions for a 78.3 passer rating.
His most productive season came in 2022 with the Raiders, where he set career highs in passing yards (656), completions (53), and touchdown passes (4).
Stidham has bounced between backup and occasional starting roles throughout his career, including a stint as Denver’s starter in 2023. He signed a two-year deal with the Broncos in March 2025.
