Tyreek Hill will be one of the top players available when NFL free agency opens on March 11. Wherever he lands, one of the first questions that will be asked is if Hill will be ready to play in Week 1 of the 2026-27 season. “The Cheetah” is still recovering from an ACL injury suffered on Sept. 29, 2025. Below, we will look at when Hill is projected to return and be back on an NFL field. We will also look at the next team odds for Hill.
When will Tyreek Hill return and be back on an NFL field?
Just prior to being released by the Dolphins, Hill gave an update on his recovery from a torn ACL.
“I’m feeling good. I mean, I’m walking with no brace on right now,” Hill told People.com on Feb. 6. “I’m in my second week of walking with no brace, so I’m proud of that. So I’m feeling good.”
The Dolphins cited a “failed physical” as the reason behind releasing Hill, but all indications are that Hill’s rehab is still on track.
The 31-year-old wrote the following on Instagram in a farewell message to Miami:
“The journey doesn’t stop here. Every chapter in life has taught me something. This one taught me leadership, resilience, and mostly gratitude. The love I have for this game is unexplainable. And right now, this offseason, for the first time ever, the Cheetah is all the way turned up and locked in. Focused. The Cheetah don’t slow down. Ever. So to everyone wondering what’s next … just wait on it. The Cheetah will be back … born again.”
Will Tyreek Hill be ready for the start of the season?
All indications are that Hill will be ready to play in Week 1 of the 2026-27 season. The first Sunday of next season is set for Sept. 13. If Hill returns on that date, it will have been 349 days since he sustained the injury.
Recovery times from torn ACLs can take anywhere from 6-to-12 months. Barring any setbacks, we project that Hill will be good to go for Week 1.
Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently discussed Hill’s progress with WSVN’s Josh Moser.
“It’s one day at a time. He’s got a long road ahead of him,” Rosenhaus said of Hill on Feb. 15. “But no one works harder than Tyreek. He’s done a fabulous job. All in all, he’s progressing well. He had a challenging injury, but he is working his tail off and doing everything he can to get back as soon as possible."
Tyreek Hill next team odds
There has been plenty of buzz over the past few months that a Kansas City Chiefs-Hill reunion could be in the works. Hill threw gasoline on those rumors just two days after being released by the Dolphins, as the WR took a selfie of himself in Kansas City on Feb. 18.
The best NFL betting sites have the Chiefs as the favorite to land Hill in free agency with a +300 price. The Bills (+600), Raiders (+800), and Ravens (+800) follow the Chiefs on most oddsboards.
