With the matchup set, I take a look at the opening lines and where they're headed prior to kickoff on Feb. 8.

I've already seen a ton of movement in the Super Bowl opening line report for the Patriots vs. Seahawks. As a result, it's time to break down the early money moves, make sense of what the sharps are betting, and project where the opening lines will stall before making our best bets for the Big Game.

πŸ“Š Super Bowl odds and line movement: Patriots vs. Seahawks

Super Bowl betting lines courtesy of FanDuel - Updated as of Jan. 26, 2026

Market Opening line Current line Movement
Point Spread Seahawks -3.5 (-110) Seahawks -4.5 (-110) πŸ“ˆ Seahawks
Moneyline SEA -180 / NE +155 SEA -210 / NE +175 πŸ“ˆ Seahawks
Point total (O/U) 46.5 47.5 πŸ“ˆ Over

Moneyline movement

The -180 betting odds weren't long enough for early Seahawks bettors, as those odds have now jumped to -210 with some money finally coming in on the Patriots at +175. I wouldn't be surprised to see Seattle sitting at -250 betting odds with the Patriots closer to +210 come kickoff. Remain patient and vigilant if you're looking for the best number possible here.

Point spread movement

Immediately after this matchup was set, there was early and heavy money on the Seahawks, which quickly moved the Super Bowl opening line from -3.5 to -4.5. The point spread eventually touched -5.0 before returning to -4.5 early Sunday night.

Total movement

Bettors also hit the Over as soon as the lines were released, moving the point total from 46.5 to 47.5 before settling back down to 46.5. Unlike the point spread, the total won't have volatile movement and will likely settle around 47 prior to kickoff.

We'll be updating this section as we inch closer to the Super Bowl - accurate as of Jan. 26.

πŸ“ˆ Key Super Bowl betting trends: Patriots vs. Seahawks

  • Against the spread record: Seattle is 14-5-0 ATS this season, New England is 13-6-1 ATS - both records include the playoffs; both are the best marks in the NFL this year.
  • Rematch history: This is the ninth Super Bowl rematch in history - the Pats are 4-0 historically in these matchups. The last time these two played in the Big Game, Malcolm Butler intercepted Russell Wilson at the goal line to win Super Bowl XLIX.
  • The underdog edge: Underdogs have covered in five straight Super Bowls. The last favorite to win was the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019, beating the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20.

πŸ† Super Bowl prediction: Where will the betting lines close?

The point spread will continue to move in Seattle's favor. I'm actually surprised the bookmakers are giving the Patriots this much credit after New England's opponents had a historically low 0.391 winning percentage in the regular season and a cakewalk schedule to the Super Bowl. It's no secret they've had the easier path to the Super Bowl, and I can see the public helping this spread balloon to 6.5 without crossing the key number of 7.5 before kickoff on Feb. 8.

If you’re riding with Seattle, the time to strike at -4.5 is right now. This number will likely creep toward 6.5 by kickoff as the bandwagon fills up behind the NFC's best team. On the other side, Pats backers should be patient and circle Friday or Saturday of Super Bowl week to snag the best possible price.

πŸ₯‡ Odds and line movement: Super Bowl MVP, touchdown scorers, player props

The Super Bowl MVP odds have been released and, of course, Sam Darnold (+130) is the heavy favorite to take home the award. The winning quarterback on the Super Bowl-winning team has won the MVP in five of the last six Super Bowls. There has been one defensive player and two wide receivers to win the award in the past 10 seasons outside of the position.

If you're looking for player prop bets to make, our 10 best Super Bowl bets to make right now will push you in the right direction, as will our Super Bowl anytime touchdown scorer odds. As always, if you love a play right now, you likely won't be seeing better odds prior to kick off. Act fast, and protect that bankroll.
