⚖️ Parity reigns in Super Bowl odds
There's, of course, one question on your mind when you look at the Super Bowl oddsboard - who will be left when the dust settles? Now, if I could definitively answer that for you, I would be retired, but what we can do is break down the evidence and push you in the right direction.
One thing is for certain: it's been 15 years since you've been provided with a betting opportunity like the one you're seeing this season in this market. The Buffalo Bills (+650), Kansas City Chiefs (+650), Detroit Lions (+800), and Green Bay Packers (+800) have all played a role in keeping these Super Bowl odds as long as they are.
You'd have to rewind all the way to 2012 to find Super Bowl odds providing as lucrative an opportunity as what we're seeing right now in 2025.
Year | Super Bowl favorite in Week 7 | Odds | Finish |
---|---|---|---|
2011 | Patriots | +400 | Lost in Super Bowl |
2012 | Patriots | +600 | Lost in Conf. finals |
2013 | Broncos | +225 | Lost in Super Bowl |
2014 | Broncos | +350 | Lost in Div. round |
2015 | Patriots | +250 | Lost in Conf. finals |
2016 | Patriots | +250 | Super Bowl champs |
2017 | Patriots | +400 | Lost in Super Bowl |
2018 | Rams | +160 | Lost in Super Bowl |
2019 | Patriots | +175 | Lost in Wild Card |
2020 | Ravens / Seahawks | +450 | Lost in Conf. finals |
2021 | Buccaneers | +550 | Lost in Div. round |
2022 | Bills | +275 | Lost in Conf. finals |
2023 | 49ers | +450 | Lost in Super Bowl |
2024 | Chiefs | +475 | Lost in Super Bowl |
But how did we get here? Well, six weeks into the season, 29 games have featured a winning score in the final minutes of regulation or in overtime. That’s the most in NFL history over that span. There were five games alone in Week 6 decided in the final five minutes. As a result, the top dogs haven't been able to pull away from a crowded field of contenders.
The Bills aren't even leading their own division after a two-game losing streak punctuated by a last-second field goal from the New England Patriots in Week 5. The Chiefs found themselves on the losing end of a one-score game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 before Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars pulled away with 23 seconds left and beat them in Week 5. Green Bay also lost on a last-second field goal to the Cleveland Browns before ultimately tying the Dallas Cowboys the following week.
The Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers also spent time among the Super Bowl betting favorites early in the season.
It comes down to this: when a top dog tries to take a step out of the darkness and emerge into the spotlight, a team or underdog pulls them back into the shadows, and that has been the story of the 2025 season.
So, where do we go from here? And how do we take advantage of this lucrative betting opportunity?
🏆 Super Bowl predictions and strategy
🤑 Super Bowl betting ticket
Now more than ever you have an opportunity to bet multiple teams to win the Super Bowl and still net a large profit, let's start with:
- Kansas City Chiefs (+650 via FanDuel | $10 wins $65)
- Buffalo Bills (+650 via DraftKings | $10 wins $65)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1800 via FanDuel | $10 wins $180)
The answer is simple here - diversify your investments. What does that mean? Now is the time, more than ever, to bet two or even three teams to win the Super Bowl. That way, you'll give yourself the best possible chance to come out profitable once the parade begins.
🔴 Chiefs (+650)
I think you have to be crazy not to at least spend a half-unit on the Chiefs right now. There's no better time to do so. They are not only the most complete team on both sides of the ball, but they are adding reinforcements at the perfect time - enter Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice. The offense finally shook off the first 0-2 start in the Patrick Mahomes era, and the Chiefs own a top-10 scoring defense through six weeks.
Highlighted by a win against the Detroit Lions, these Chiefs again mean business in 2025. You may not get a better price than right now with the Las Vegas Raiders on deck in Week 7, either.
🦬 Bills (+650)
The Bills are always a great bet as long as Josh Allen is around, but they need to make some moves in order to help their franchise quarterback down the stretch. The wide receiver room leaves a lot to be desired, and the middling defense is giving up 22 points per game. The run-stopping unit is also the third-worst in football, allowing 158 yards per game on the ground. They need help, and fast.
While all may seem bleak for Buffalo fans after their Week 6 prime-time loss to the Atlanta Falcons, now is likely the time to buy stock in them. After a Week 7 bye, the Bills return to take on the lowly Carolina Panthers before an odds-shifting game against the Chiefs in Week 9. It's time to make your move.
⛵️ Buccaneers (+1800)
Yes, this is more of a long shot, and I'd advise taking either the Bills or Detroit Lions alongside the Chiefs, but how can you not take a deep shot with Baker Mayfield and his Bucs right now?
They seem like a team destined for greatness after recording four fourth-quarter comebacks this season and four one-score wins. Without the services of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin throughout the season, Mayfield is still spearheading the league's fifth-best scoring offense. You won't find another NFC quarterback playing the position better right now. On top of that, his offense is complemented by the fifth-best run-stopping unit on the other side of the ball.
Never say die with this team - they are the cockroaches of the NFL. Even further, teams who are favorited by Week 7 have won the Super Bowl just once in the last 15 years, leaving the door wide-open for the Buccaneers.
As long as Mayfield is under center, these Bucs have the opportunity to win a game, and come playoff time, that is a trait worth betting on.
